In this thread @MouinRabbani explains why the ethnic cleansing being perpetrated by Israeli forces in Gaza is as obvious as it is horrifying. It is a crime forhold. It is unbearable to witness.
Mouin Rabbani@MouinRabbani

THREAD: Senior Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, are again publicly advocating the ethnic cleansing of the Gaza Strip. Their proposals are being presented as voluntary emigration schemes,

"MEE understands that the charges against Smotrich include forced displacement as a crime against humanity and war crime, the transfer of Israel’s own population as a war crime, and persecution and apartheid as crimes against humanity."
Sondos Asem@SondosAsem1

NEW: The office of the prosecutor of the ICC on 2 April filed a secret arrest warrant application for Israeli finance minister Bezalel Smotrich over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity committed against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, MEE can reveal🧵⤵️

Looks like @Meta plans to delete an account with more than a million followers because Ahmed was arrested and then acquitted in Kuwait amid their crackdown. Bowing down to Kuwait is pretty weak, gotta say.

This is doctrinally incorrect. Extermination is mass killing, requiring an (uncertain) number of deaths. Four out of five forms of genocide require no deaths at all. So it is entirely possible for a perpetrator to not be responsible for extermination but still commit genocide.
𝔼𝕝𝕝𝕚𝕠𝕥 𝕄𝕒𝕝𝕚𝕟@ElliotMalin

Important to remind people that the ICC expressly rejected warrants for Israeli leaders for the lower threshold crime against humanity of extermination saying they were unconvinced that the elements were present. If you can’t get extermination, there’s no genocide.

Per @ElliotMalin, the communication also claims that the #ICC does not have jurisdiction over the acts it supposedly wants investigated. So this is nothing more than a PR stunt and should be reported as such. x.com/ElliotMalin/st…

All medical professionals should watch it, and decide for themselves what to do next. NB this documentary - that BBC refused to air - was produced during the first year of the genocide. Since then, Israel has destroyed most of what you see (being still Gaza) in the documentary.

Imagine if all medical professionals in the world empathised with their Palestinian colleagues unlawfully detained by Apartheid Israel, and rose, with one voice, for their liberation. The possibility to turn this genocide into a victory for humanity lies in small, replicated steps
Physicians for Human Rights Israel (PHRI)@PHRIsrael

Yesterday, a lawyer on our behalf visited four physicians from Gaza currently detained at Ktzi’ot Prison: Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya, Dr. Muhammad Ubaid, Dr. Murad Alkuka, and Dr. Akram Abu Odeh. All four are being held without charge. All four physicians reported that there has been no improvement in either the quality or quantity of the inadequate food provided in prison. One physician reported losing 35 kilograms (77 pounds) over the past two years. In recent months, the physicians have also reported being brought before court hearings during which their detention was extended indefinitely, despite no charges being filed against them. Two described hearings lasting only a few minutes and taking place without legal representation. They further stated that prison guards confiscate their mattresses every morning and return them only in the evening, forcing them to sit all day on the floor or on metal bed frames. Two of the physicians said they need glasses after prison guards confiscated their own, yet repeated requests for replacements have been ignored. Two others reported medical issues that remain untreated. The physicians also described recurring outbreaks of skin diseases among the prison population. Hygiene conditions remain dire. They are held in severe overcrowding, provided with only a single set of clothing that they are not able to wash, and denied access to cleaning supplies. Following our petition to the High Court of Justice demanding the physicians’ release from unlawful detention, the state said it would submit its response within two weeks. PHRI calls for the immediate withdrawal of the arrest warrants against these physicians, and urges local and international organizations to take action to secure their release, so they may return home and resume their life-saving work. #ReleaseThe14Doctors

The interim decision by the US judge gives me respite but the battle is not over. ICC judges and Palestinian NGOs remain sanctioned with no recourse to justice. The stakes are incredibly high. Please sign and share the petition: DEFEND THE DEFENDERS! petition.qomon.org/0b54a0b8-deman…

In not rescinding its association agreement with Israel, the EU is violating both INT'L LAW, leading all its members to commit wrongful acts and be complicit with apparent int'l crimes, and its own EU Law.
Claudio Francavilla@ClaFrancavilla

@JorgeLiboreiro Problem is: Commission *must* ensure EU trade complies with int’l law. Currently, it doesn’t. Appalling that @vonderleyen @MarosSefcovic have yet to even just *propose* a ban. This is not a matter of choice, it’s a matter of duty. Claiming otherwise is gaslighting 👇🏼

Reporting restrictions on the terror connection were just lifted for the first trial of the Fulton 24. Here is why it’s a stitch up. They were tried for criminal damage, but the jury were not allowed to know that they will be sentenced as terrorists. • The judge kept secret from the jury that the defendants would be sentenced as terrorists, presenting that they were only charged for criminal damage which the jury decided they were guilty of. Unknowingly the jury actually convicted them of terrorism, a charge that was banned from being mentioned in the court room. • This is the first case, and therefore the test case, for convicting activists taking direct action as terrorists. Meaning that masses of protestors can face one charge at court but secretly be imprisoned as terrorists. This is more outrageous than the proscription of Palestine Action, it is insidious political manipulation of the court system. Terrorism accusation is based solely on property damage, i.e them damaging Israeli quadcopter drones • The use of terrorism legislation is purely based on property damage; the fact that Israeli drones and weapons were dismantled. Despite the smear campaign, the terrorism accusation has nothing to do with violence and everything to do with protecting Israel's business of war - at the expense of our freedoms and rights. Judge said it falls under terrorism legislation because they were influencing the Israeli government by restricting them of weapons. • The courts are arguing this was an act of terrorism because according to the Judge the activists were influencing the Israeli government by restricting their access to weapons during a genocide. One factor that is used to detemine whether an offense is terrorism, is if it was trying to influence the government. The courts are agreeing this wasn't an attempt to influence Britain, so instead they are considering the Israeli government as the subject of influence. • If they were just being sentenced for criminal damage, as the jury were led to believe, they would already have served their time after their 18 months in prison on remand. However, the terrorism link means they will serve longer sentences, and be licensed as terrorists for 10-15 years, meaning: any new device, bank account, email addresses, relationship all has to be registered to the police for the rest of their life.
