Yesterday evening a Liverpool City Council licensed Hackney carriage driver was found to be smoking inside of his licensed vehicle. 🚭Under the Health Act 2006, smoking is prohibited in enclosed workplaces. This includes licensed Hackney carriage and private hire vehicles.

RPU attended West Derby Village due to ongoing parking issues. Numerous vehicles issued with traffic offence reports for parking on zig-zags and obstructing a taxi rank!

A Wolverhampton licensed PHV driver caught plying for hire/driving without insurance during a test purchase operation in Liverpool last year was sentenced in court recently. The driver received 8 points and a fine, taking them over 12 points and resulting in a 6 month driving ban

Over the weekend, Liverpool City Council Parking Services Officers issued 57 Parking Charge Notices to vehicles illegally using taxi ranks across the city centre. Taxi ranks must remain clear for licensed taxis.

A Sefton-licensed PHV driver was issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice for smoking in a licensed vehicle. The fine could have been as little as £30, but after failing to pay, the matter was progressed to court last week where the driver was fined £450 including costs.

A joint operation with Merseyside Police on the evening of Saturday 7 March into the early hours of Sunday targeted vehicles causing obstructions across the city centre. Drivers were dealt with where necessary as part of ongoing work to keep the network clear, safe and moving.

A Sefton licensed PHV parked on a taxi rank yesterday caught the attention of Licensing Enforcement Officers. An inspection followed, revealing two illegal tyres, one with cords exposed. The vehicle licence was suspended, and the driver will be summoned for offences.

In accordance with traffic authority regulations for Liverpool Council, an order has been made prohibiting and restricting the use of certain roads and road junctions by vehicles in order to facilitate the safe holding of the Liverpool Half Marathon.

Following a test purchase exercise in Liverpool city centre last year, three private hire drivers were recently prosecuted for plying for hire and driving without insurance. A total of 24 penalty points were issued, with fines, charges and costs totalling £2,650.

Last year, a licensed driver was issued an FPN for smoking in a licensed vehicle but failed to pay. Smoking in licensed vehicles is illegal. Ignoring an FPN can lead to prosecution. The case was recently heard in court, the driver was issued £290 fine plus costs & surcharge.
