Spot the difference:

Absolutely nailed an ultrasound guided cannula in a patient with terrible peripheral access. Felt very proud! Definitely wouldn’t have managed that before without doing my previous job in @AicuLri

@HayleyGrafton @RishiSunak It's a mark of how hard things are in the NHS that my first reaction was "12 hour wait in A&E - are things improving?". Hope you get out soon, and those hooks...ligature points...

I've unfortunately spent 12 hours today in an A&E corridor with my mum, thankfully all OK & we'll be out of here soon. But @RishiSunak the conditions we witnessed today are utterly unacceptable. The picture shows the corridor lined with chairs and dotted around are these hooks...

A reflection on this. If the thresholds for a critical incident is shifting and there is no benefit from them, are we in effect normalising poor care across our health service? More trusts will follow this move in coming days:

🚨 @nottmhospitals stands down critical incident as "there is no additional benefit" to it - but "extreme pressure" ongoing with the "most strain many of us have ever known". It's caring for 10 wards worth of patients sick with Covid & flu and surgery continues to be cancelled.

I've just checked the BBC website. This is the main UK news page, at 0015 on 31/12/23. Emergency care in the NHS is literally collapsing, dozens (if not hundreds) of people a day will die as a result of overflowing EDs & there's nothing about it in the headlines. #Gaslighting
