On Sunday, 19th April 2026 at 9:00 AM, concerned citizens and representatives from multiple organizations converged at the entrance of the A.N. Jha Deer Park in Hauz Khas to express deep outrage over the plan to translocate captive spotted deer from the park to tiger-filled sanctuaries in Rajasthan. Participants included prominent organizations such as the Animal Welfare Society of India, New Delhi Nature Society, Walk for Animals, Habitat and Campaign for Differently Abled, along with students, teachers, and professors from Delhi University, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), and TERI. They were joined by long-time senior morning walkers from the neighbourhood who have visited the park for decades. The gathering was stunned and outraged by the manner in which these shy, vulnerable spotted deer — known for their weak natural defences against predators like tigers, leopards and cheetahs — are being treated as a disposable resource rather than protected animals in their urban habitat.

Each mature tree absorbs particulate matter, cools streets, reduces heat stress, and improves public health. Cutting them during peak pollution is not negligence — it’s recklessness. @MCD_Delhi lacks trained arborists. @mssirsa

Let’s be clear: Pruning ≠ mutilation. Scientific pruning preserves canopy, leaf mass, and airflow. What’s happening here destroys all three. This is incompetence dressed up as maintenance. @DelhiTreesSOS

Even these are covered with dust

Delhi didn’t end up choking because a few Trees stood in the way of a car park. It’s the other way around — Delhi is breathing because these Trees stand there. In a city battling pollution every single day, Trees are not “obstacles.” They’re the last line of defence.

They stand silently, catching every particle meant for our lungs. No applause. No protection. And the reward for this service? Blindly termed as obstacles & cut down. Delhi officially cuts five Trees every hour. The price of apathy.

The city’s air is so heavy, even the leaves look tired. And yet, they keep cleaning what we keep creating. Protecting the Trees we have today is the first step to a cleaner air. Report concretized or damage to Trees on the Green Helpline no.23378513 of the Forest Dept. Delhi.

Nature never hides its power dynamics. What we call ‘cooperation’ is often resistance, endurance, and quiet strength. Trees live out truths we pretend not to see.

This stretch along the Ring Road is officially a deemed forest. The Bailey bridge is already operational. So why is there a push to cut 20 fully grown trees in a protected zone, in a city that’s choking? @Warriormomsin @gupta_rekha @mssirsa
