So the Supreme Court won’t allow states to regulate guns but WILL allow states to regulate a woman’s body?! Complete BS!! #RoeVsWade

So, to sum up the Supreme Court’s week: life begins at conception and ends in a mass shooting.

@AmyVJennison It's really unfortunate that these sessions weren't available to remote attendees, especially given how expensive the registration was! Just the plenaries (live) and pre-recorded breakout session talks. I would have really loved to see these! @CDGN_Australia @_PHAA_

@ThomasHoufek @tanyagolubchik @CathyYoung63 Victoria is a different state in Australia, which had an outbreak at the time dominated by one genomic lineage. Throughout much of the pandemic, travel between states was restricted to reduce spread.

The graphs on our covid-variant github and @phydyn's thread leave out an important point: the number of cases occurring each stage. Here is our attempt to estimate the contribution of BA.1 and BA.2 to our Omicron wave

@bioinformer yes, the 454/SOLiD was data from ~2010 that took a long time to disambiguate enough to publish because the genome was such a puzzle. lf only nanopore was readily available at the time… (Also, note that there is PacBio and Illumina data in this paper too!)

What’s the absolute saddest song you know? Like the most gut wrenching, tear jerking, skip it if you did your makeup type banger? I’m trying to compile the most depressing playlist of all time

@mbeisen @biorxivpreprint easier said than done… my last paper was rejected from biorxiv because it was “medical research” and from medrxiv because it “wasn’t research” 🤷‍♀️

A better publishing world is there for the taking if we embrace it: 1) Post everything to @biorxivpreprint et al 2) Have scientific societies & other community based groups carry out review and share results openly 3) Funders pay costs directly so free to publish & read
