To be fully alive, fully human, and completely awake is to be continually thrown out of the nest. To live fully is to be always in no-man’s-land, to experience each moment as completely new and fresh. To live is learning to die over and over again in each moment. ― Pema Chödrön

Ms. Rachel is fighting to close an ICE facility in Texas that's detaining children. She wants to "make sure that kids and their parents are back in their communities where they belong." "I am political. It’s political to believe that children are worthy of love and care, and that every child is equal, and that our care shouldn’t stop at what we look like, our family, at our religion, at a border," she told NBC News. Ms. Rachel recently had a video call with nine-year-old Deiver Henao Jimenez, who is detained at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center in South Texas. The boy told her he "wants to leave and go to the spelling bee." "It was unbelievably surreal to see this sweet little face and feel like I was on a call with somebody who’s in jail. It broke me, and it was something I never thought I’d encounter in life," she told the news outlet. "We’re trying to get a child out of a jail to do a spelling bee. I just never thought those words would go together." variety.com/2026/tv/news/m…

🚨 Melania Trump this morning: Proposes an AI system—“Plato”—as a replacement for teachers. “Literature, art, science, mathematics, history… the entire corpus of knowledge… at home.” Replace teachers? With a machine? AI over teachers. That’s the idea. Instead of calling for better pay for our nation's educators/heroes. Sad day!

Now hours deep into the blackout. Even in the center of Havana, only a few lights out there, where people have managed to hook up generators or solar batteries. No city is ever supposed to look like this, and the U.S. has done it to Cuba intentionally.

People are dying in ICE detention facilities. Girls are being sexually abused. Families are being separated. Humans stripped of dignity. None of this happens w/o our tax dollars. Congress must hold firm & refuse to fund the cruelty of ICE & CBP. Security doesn’t require torture.
The New Yorker@NewYorker

D.H.S. is now detaining some 70,000 people in jails across the country, more than at any other point since the department was founded. Twenty-three immigrants have already died in custody in the current fiscal year, putting it on pace to surpass the previous one, which had the highest number of deaths in immigration detention in decades. newyorkermag.visitlink.me/1kAoC4

You can’t write this level of cruelty and depravity in a movie because it would be banned. Yet Israel gets away with it. Israel is a menace beyond all imagination.

🚨 BREAKING: Canadian doctor Ben Thompson tells the story of a doctor in Gaza who was forced to strip naked and stand for two days by Israeli occupation forces, urinating, and deficating where he stood. He could only treat patients if he was naked.

Out of Cuba now otw home and finally have access to the internet I’m having a hard time putting into words the thoughts I have on my experience there the past couple days. The level of cruelty that the oil blockade the US imposes on the day-to-day lives of everyday Cubans cannot be overstated. Everyday conveniences and essential services that we take for granted are completely non-existent. Entire systems, that were already dilapidated by decades of sanctions and restrictions from participating globally, start to break down exponentially when you remove fuel from the equation. The innovation required to accomplish the most basic tasks is astounding. People existing at night in complete darkness from the blackouts, just trying their best to lead normal lives in spite of the lack of power. Yet every Cuban person I met was extremely kind, patient, and welcoming. The resilience the people of the island have is extremely admirable and heartbreaking to witness. Cuba is a beautiful place with amazing people and insane potential. What the US has done to that island is shameful and nothing short of inhumane

The fact that Israel has a “secret” nuclear facility is the story. The fact that they have undisclosed nuclear weapons, thus making all US foreign aid to Israel against US law, is the story. The fact that Israel has refused to let the UN or @iaeaorg inspect their facilities…

@implausibleblog When you’re using paragraph breaks between parts of one long quote, you leave out the last quotation mark until the end, you only use the first quotations mark at the beginning of the line. The punctuation here makes this look like a lot of little individual quotes. FYI.
