It looks like it’s going to be Baleba and Tchouameni as our two primary midfielders as things stand, and I am absolutely happy with that.

🚨 It is thought that Adam Wharton is too similar in profile to Kobbie Mainoo to be a natural partner in the current system. There is a sense that Mainoo would thrive alongside a highly mobile midfielder, and the club would flourish with that partnership. This helps to explain interest in players like Elliot Anderson and Tchouameni. [@TelegraphDucker] #mufc

FA have released reasons for Harry Maguire ban. Fourth official Matt Donahue alleges Maguire said: “You’re all a fucking joke.” Maguire’s defence: “I said something along lines of, ‘it is a fucking joke.’” Commission preferred Donahue testimony ⬇️ nytimes.com/athletic/71981…

If Tonali is your primary midfield target, you got to add Wharton AND Mateus to our squad as well.

For all the people saying MUFC are focused on signing the players that want us and are doing big things, especially inside the PL, we need to see more links to Mateus and just getting him in. Honestly, if we miss Anderson, get Mateus and it seems baleba is almost a sure thing, and try to land one more either as a “true 6” or get garner back. I’m open to Wharton as well as that last one but start to have questions about the combination options a lot more

“I was a little nervous on the first day because I was going to train with players I saw on television and who were role models” “The biggest one right now is Bruno (Fernandes) because of the player he already is,” “Back when I was at Sporting, I looked up to him and tried to learn from him. He plays in the same league as me, he has a lot of experience with the national team and, in the Premier League, I try to watch him a lot. Without a doubt, he stands out” - Mateus Fernandes in joining the Portuguese 🇵🇹 national team

🗣 Sir Jim Ratcliffe: "I've been very unpopular at Manchester United because we've made lots of changes. But for the better, in my view. And I think we're beginning to see some evidence in the football club that that's beginning to pay off. "But you've got all the same issues with the country. If you really want to deal with the major issues of immigration, with people opting to take benefits rather than working for a living, if you want to deal with that, then you're going to have to do some things which are unpopular, and show some courage." Not going to be shocked (as much as I hate it) if Anderson signs for city. They’ve probably done the leg work for months now I think MUFC sign Tonali and baleba (price depending) in that case as well as possibly one of Kone, Mateus, Scott, stiller or Wharton. Could also see a younger less proven addition too - Manzambi, mouzakitis, Bouaddi, etc. or another of the prior list, assuming Ugarte is sold and MUFC get ucl.

This Baleba watch. Hmm… think that price needs to be way down. It’s hard to find a good game from him this year that actually stands out. Not so for the other top targets.

Unpopular, but i’m not impressed with Vivell so far. His former club, Leipzig, they’ve got a bunch of interesting talents they found in obscurity. Diomande, Ouedraogo, Bitshiabu, Banzuzi, Nusa. Whole January transfer window and our only links were to Anderson and Ndidi lmao.

We need to do so much in the summer. This is why we need in my opinion: 3 midfielders Left winger A new full back (ideally left back) A backup keeper (unless we bring Vitek back but don’t think he will be happy as reserve) A backup striker (Zirkzee leaving in my opinion) Maybe a more experienced CB if Maguire goes.

🚨🎙️ | David Ornstein gives a DETAILED breakdown of Manchester United's provisional summer plans: "United's summer transfer window may not be as CRAZY as some expect, but the club has plenty to address. "Central midfield is the TOP priority especially after Casemiro's confirmed departure - leading to ongoing links with Elliot Anderson, Adam Wharton, Carlos Baleba and others. "Left-sided attacking roles are ALSO in focus after missing out on Antoine Semenyo, with Rashford and Sancho set to leave. "Defensively, Harry Maguire's future is UNCERTAIN: this is his option year, he's due to leave with no new contract news, and central defence remains a key area. "The new head coach, potentially Michael Carrick or someone else will be one of 2026's biggest stories. "Early signs under Carrick have sparked hope among fans and those at the club, however embryonic, but as always, actions will speak louder than words. [@UtdXclusive]

We can miss out on Adam Wharton but Manchester United cannot afford to miss out on Carlos Baleba and Elliot Anderson. Carlos Baleba has that fight and charisma that Casemiro brings in that midfield and Elliot Anderson has that Rodri Persona in the midfield. Getting these two is a must.

I’ve been thinking about United’s squad building & LW options. In a vacuum, i think the LW should be a top player (no project signing), that is very quick, strong in 1 against 1, and can score. Basically, Barcola. But with the direction United have taken with squad building, this may not be the best option. Usually, in your front line, you should have a ‘regulator’, someone that brings pausa to the attack, and will ensure they continue and ensure your team remains in the final third. Your Saka’s, Olise’s, Yamal’s etc. We currently have Sesko, Cunha, Bruno, Mbeumo, Amad. None of them are regulators. This means that our attacks will usually span a short period, before the ball is lost, like we saw against Fulham. Another issue is that this profile is rare, and even rarer amongst Left Wingers. This could have been a good time to sign 2020 Sancho. Who are the regulator left wingers?

Don’t let the fact we’ve won 3 games in a row distract you from the fact we haven’t done anything in this window whilst going for champions league football. 1 injury to a midfielder especially Casemiro and we’re finished. Embarrassing

As a reminder, if we lost the last 2 games instead of getting wins, we would currently be 11th, not 4th, and I think panic alarms would’ve set in, but also, next to no one expected MUFC to win both matches given the circumstances. Massive results for Carrick, but I don’t see a reason to be comfortable yet. A key injury or two (which is always possible) could derail the rest of season. Also, the team tends to perform better vs top opposition and struggle vs the teams it “should beat”. Surely one of the summer targets has to be gettable in January without killing the summer budget? Or maybe a swap deal of sorts for Zirkzee or Ugarte?
Fabrizio Ryano@analyzingfutbol

Increase the odds of ucl. One bad injury and our midfield could be in real trouble. As is, losing dorgu is a blow as well for both LB and LW.

With Dorgu’s injury I’d be resting Amad this weekend He’s superb but with the work rate/intensity he’s played with recently id give him a break. Push Mbeumo to RW & bring Sesko into the 11. Crucial to have Amad fresh for spurs the following week
