One of the workflows we frequently use in @PuzzlingPlaces is to pre-bake light into a separate texture and use it for dynamic effects in shader. For one of our Halloween specials we created a lightning effect inspired by a scene in Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula movie.

@Hero_Kvatch this is pretty much what our core audience looks like - older demographics who play weekly over a long time. Seeing the level of commitment from these players to @PuzzlingPlaces is super humbling and is what keeps us going strong 5 years in🙂

A big mistake I see in VR today is devs building small one off games with no longevity or incentive for retention. If the only revenue is from upfront purchase, it’s going to be a tough road ahead. Treat the experience like a business, not just a game.

@mrabkin I’ve talked to a lot of other store devs over the last days, none of us are seeing anything near the sales spikes we saw with Q2 or Q3 - if there are a lot of new players coming it seems they are not seeing our content.

@mrabkin Being a 3rd party dev on the store is extremely challenging right now. Aside from the merge and aggressive pushing of Horizon Worlds over 3rd party games a lot of engagement tools are broken and/or massively reduced in reach (dev posts, notifications).

We hear you on this. Helping devs find customers AND monetize is mission critical for us. First key step: grow the total audience. Quest 3S is already doing that, so far it’s bringing in the highest share of new-to-Quest users (vs upgraders) since Quest 2.

I’m hearing from devs that their sales have dropped significantly since the store opened up and they’re unsatisfied with discovery and ranking. They feel like the apps they spent years developing are now living side by side with shovelware and the consumer can’t even tell.
