I'm Canadian but own NO Canadian investments. None. I only own U.S. 🇺🇸 stocks and U.S. 🇺🇸 real estate. This doesn't mean that I don't love Canada. I love it here. Best country in the world! 🇨🇦 It's just 10x easier to live in Canada with U.S. investments and U.S. dollars. 🇺🇸

@AdamZivo When times are good, we can have fun things. For me, it's the straw that broke the camel's back.

I'm agnostic about whether it's appropriate that Ontario purchased a $28 million private jet for Doug Ford's use. Ford is essentially the CEO of Ontario, a province of 16 million people with a $1.1 trillion CAD GDP. That job requires him to travel throughout the province for high stakes negotiations, on top of constituent engagement. Many of those visits take him to northern or remote communities that aren't easily accessible by commercial aircraft. I would rather that he, and high-value members of his professional entourage (e.g. provincial ministers; accompanying business leaders), fly comfortably so they can do their jobs more effectively. Some people say that the premier and his ministers should fly economy so that they can be more relatable to the public – but that's stupid. You can't get any real work done in economy class, and it can make flights exhausting, so that it's harder to resume work after you land. I'm viscerally aware of this reality as a journalist who always flies economy. The private sector already knows this – hence why business class exists. Why would we undermine the performance of our provincial economic executives for the sake of populist theatre? The real alternative option here, for Doug and co., is to use business class or to charter aircraft as needed (obviously). There's a strong case that this achieves the same results as a private jet, but at a lower cost. But the public doesn't seem to have enough information to do a real cost-benefit analysis here. We don't know how much the province already spends on airfare; how much is spent flying to remote or northern communities; etc. I'm not sure if the Ford gov conducted a CBA, or, if it did, whether it released any details on it. So, in the absence of information, I think it's hard to have a strong opinion either way.

Premier Doug Ford's taxpayer-funded purchase of a private jet is getting pushback from critics who say regular Ontarians don't have the same luxury. #onpoli

@legallassy @MVdlJCardinal @jec79 You know you'd have a point if it were straws. Red solo cups are not banned in Canada either, so you made up some bs and are offended by your own delusions. But do carry on the grievance bs that is tanking your party, it looks great on you!

I am truly fatigued by this negative line of dreck about Canada. Yes, we have challenges, more at the moment than usual. But this is a tremendous country, and yes we have a Canadian Dream, the belief that people can come together to build better lives, and in doing so build a better country: fair, decent, and diverse.
