In this paper, we use 3.77 billion lidar samples collected by NASA GEDI and ICESat-2 missions to initialize a global Ecosystem Demography model. This greatly improves the spatial resolution of ecosystem modeling from 0.25/0.5° to 0.01°. @NASAEarthData @GEDI_Knights @NASA_ICESat2

This work extends our LiDAR initialization approach to constrain forest carbon dynamics in the past. Now, we have a consistent geospatial approach for monitoring and modeling carbon changes from past to future. More to come!
