2025 was the year where Donald Trump took the throne and shook the world. Politicians did not know how to respond to a man who spoke his own mind and to hell with DEI, appeasement, and the social woke mindset…….and the world woke up and benefited from Trumps straight shooting political discourse. Trump has a way of getting to the heart of the matter, and setting the agenda, encouraging discourse, where there is only stale mate, because of political ennui. My predictions for 2026. Iran’s Mullahs will fall and the Shah will ascend to the throne. Ukraine and Russia will reach a tentative settlement and there will be a strained peace. Israel will continue to set the agenda for the Middle East, though there will be no Gaza peace deal. There will be an election in Canada and Poilievre will be Prime Minister. The Right will continue to advance in Europe. Islam will still be a thorn in the side of Western politics and there will be a reckoning. The sun will still rise in the east and set in the west. The Earth will continue its spiral around the sun. Climate change will disappear from the archives of scientific literature. Artificial Intelligence will reign supreme. Hopefully Christianity will hold its own against Islam.

Haven’t tweeted for a while, because quite frankly, the world is going to Hell in a hang basket. Ancient Chinese philosophy. I just don’t believe our politicians any more. It seems we live in a corrupt society where everybody is out for themselves. Case in point the five Conservatives in Canada who passed over to the Liberals. All Canadians are okay with this just normal politics. Nothing to see here. Liberal outrageous spending and corruption to its cronies, $100 millions, on various failed efforts like the $200 million concrete slab in Nova Scotia and many others, it’s just how we do business. Canadians yawn, shrug, and sleep walk through their day to day activities. It doesn’t concern us, forgetting they are paying for all of this through their taxes. When will Canadians wake up. I’m not sure. They seem at peace with mediocrity. Live long and accept your well deserved fate.

In Palm Springs, I had some Alberta Premium.
I've been choosing Ontario wine for years and while I travel all over Canada, I also travel to the United States.

In fact, in our Westminster system, the only places I could find mass defections and inducements that changed the balance of power were in East Africa - Malawi, Kenya. Kenya now has strict anti defection laws to prevent such abuses of power.
Every other example in mature democracies - UK, Australia, NZ and Canada (before Carney) were either through a single independent crosser (not mass inducement), Speakership or coalitions and accords. In the latter three instances they were all carried out transparently and in the House.
Every thinking person in Canada should really have a good look at what this means. Holding the crossers as trophies or traitors is actually beside the point. What is at stake is much bigger than them. It is the autocracy that Carney is creating and its acceptance by media, sycophants and pacifists.

Voters in federal elections vote for candidates in the party they wish to succeed and form government. Crossing the floor after constituents voted for a particular party does a gross disservice to democracy. A parliamentary committee needs to be set up to discuss this issue with a view to seek a by-election for the riding of any MP who crosses the floor to another party. The Liberals are making a mockery of the Canadian electorate and at the very least need to be severely punished in the next election. Never forget.

You’re absolutely right, Gary. Constituents federally always vote against party lines. The bribery and corruption of the Carney Liberal government offering sweetheart deals to MP’s to cross the floor should only be allowed if a by-election is called. There needs to be a parliamentary committee set up to review this odious and undemocratic practice.

I respectfully disagree, Carson. When a minority government can effectively buy / seduce / lure its way to a majority, effectively neutering the opposition, I'd say it's inaccurate to continue to call that a functioning democracy. I'd call it a bought-and-paid for government.

I am disappointed with the decision by the Israeli police to prevent the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem and the Christian Communities of the Holy Land from marking Palm Sunday at the Holy Sepulchre.
These actions further violate the longstanding status quo of Jerusalem’s Holy Sites.
People of every faith in Jerusalem should be able to worship freely, fully, and without fear. I am pleased that President Herzog has contacted the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, to reaffirm this.

Labour’s official definition of Islamophobia — now repackaged as “anti-Muslim hostility” — is less than three weeks old and has already been used in an attempt to silence a democratically elected politician.
The Shadow Justice Secretary, Nick Timothy, was reported by a Labour MP to the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, branded “Islamophobic”, and even faced calls to resign from the Prime Minister — all for criticising a public mass Muslim prayer in Trafalgar Square.
In a free society, no religion should be shielded from legitimate criticism, challenge, or debate.
