@sidnezcrosby Let him start a geriatric (exaggeration, he's only gonna be 40 😭) hockey league already. He just wants to play hockey forever 😭

@jenteach13 When other professions’ lunches are 20 min at best and that includes time to go to the bathroom and heat up said lunch, and often while allowing students to make up work or grading, then they can comment on my profession.
English

@KristyT These silly activities are for the teachers who were those few annoying students back in the day who actually enjoyed them.
English

@Clashophile @mom_tho Right!! They are what I read when I’m feeling low. And I have notes taped up all over my file cabinet ❤️
English

@letsgopens77 @mom_tho I was a preschool teacher for many years & the gifts I loved most were homemade. Very meaningful and often had the child’s handprint or artwork which was so appreciated. And the lovely notes from parents were so treasured.
English

@Clashophile @mom_tho Please know that a note of appreciation is always the most treasured. I save those! And a student made card is the best.
English

@mom_tho As a working single parent who struggled to put food on the table, & that’s w/visits to the food pantry & help from my parents - this would’ve been just another way for my kids to feel embarrassment over not having a daily gift.
Who decided this?
When did it become a whole week?
English

@FixingEducation It is because being a special ed/resource teacher involves a ridiculous amount of meetings, paperwork, and teaching which cannot be done by one person. Most schools cut positions and burned out their staff.
English

@SylviaGam @0riettaRose @LeeKurtiss As Gen x teacher, the problem is there are no repercussions for kids. Recess cannot be taken away, and homework isn’t done, plus homework cannot be graded anymore.
English

@0riettaRose @LeeKurtiss I feel like Boomers and us Gen X need to go teach these kids the way we were taught. If you can’t perform at grade level, repeat the grade. If you’re falling behind, extra homework until you get it.

@0riettaRose @imreallytiredpa That is most certainly not the case. Teachers do not have the power to hold a child back. And usually it would only be done in kindergarten with the parents consent.
English

@imreallytiredpa Yup! That's exactly it. Protect your own paycheck. They surely know these kids cannot read long before they get into high school, yet somehow the students continue moving up. Their teachers were complacent one way or another.

sorry, cat-persons are cringing with sympathy for this terrified panicked animal running frantically as the crowd yells & men are chasing her...I actually thought the cat's heart might burst, she is running so fast, & so desperately. hoping that this had a happy ending.
No Cats No Life@NoCatsNoLife_m
A cat ran onto the field at Yankee Stadium during a game, and the crowd started chanting “Let’s go cat!” It ended up being the most exciting moment of the night 🥰🧡

Everyone loves to remind teachers about summer.
Fine. Let's do the math.
This week I worked nearly 60 hours.
6:30 arrival. Unpaid lunch with kids in my room. Covered PE — I teach Spanish. Graded vocab tests Friday night. Graded a children's book project on Saturday. Turned one into a movie and posted it for the class. Five hours of lesson planning today.
The standard work week is 40 hours. The extra 20? Unpaid.
Some weeks, the grading is lighter. Some weeks it's worse. This is not the worst week I've had.
But yes. I get summers off.

Blind Item #10
The "leak" from the reunion show is a marketing gimmick.

@Debora456432 @saniyafatma1278 That’s fabulous! I had a mischief growing up.
English

@suspect1973 @EricStepanov @travisakers That is untrue. Many of the larger systems ( catholic) require certification within 3 years of hire
English

@EricStepanov @travisakers Most private schools pay less ! Because in private schools the teachers do mot need to be certified or have teaching degrees
English

What teacher is making $125k a year and working less than 50 hours a week?
Matt | The Mini-Retirement Maximalist@MiniRetireMatt
The teacher making $125k per year, with 3 months of PTO, and 35 hour work weeks Is better off than... The attorney making $250k per year, with 1-2 weeks of PTO, and 60+ hour work weeks It's not even close
English

@EricStepanov @travisakers No. You need to get a master’s and make 75% of public schools.
English

@travisakers And who actually gets all their supplies paid for, and doesn’t have to keep taking graduate classes in the summer…
