❗️Breaking❗️ 📍Hammamat Al-Maleh April 20, 2026 - 11 pm Palestinian school on church property was demolished by settlers last night. Last night, settlers invaded with bulldozers and demolished the school in the village of Hamamat al-Maleh to the ground. The village and school are located within sight of the Tevetz military base, but the demolition was not interrupted. This is a particularly brutal destruction and it joins a long line of property crimes and systematic damage to the Palestinian education system in Hamamat al-Maleh and the entire region. Since October 7, the community of Hamamat al-Maleh has become one of the targets of ethnic cleansing in the Jordan Valley. In recent months, the attacks have become so violent that most of the shepherd community living there was forced to leave. However, to this day, the primary school and kindergarten have continued to operate. In an old stone house owned by the Latin Church, several residents continued to live and endure violent attacks by settlers from expulsion outposts in the area. Last March, the attacks escalated, and some of them required medical treatment for Palestinian residents and Israeli activists. It is important to emphasize that the destruction of the school in Hamamat is part of a systematic, serious, and ongoing violation of Palestinian girls and boys to exercise their basic right to education. In March, settlers invaded the school twice, stole equipment and vandalised property. They smashed solar panels, destroyed security cameras, and punctured water tanks, in addition to property crimes against the residents who remained in the village. Since October 7, crossing checkpoints in the West Bank has been so difficult that teachers living in so called Areas A and B are often unable to reach schools in Area C and maintain a regular school schedule. In several cases, for example in Khirbet Samra, settlers have prevented the shuttle bus from reaching the station and picking up the children to school. Children in the village of Ein Shibli cannot go to school due to settler attacks from nearby outposts and because of the military checkpoint in the village, where civilians are stopped when trying to drive the children to school.
