@GendoWasRight True. I'm a high end gamer with a great rig but I spent way more than necessary. That's what is great about pc, you can build for your taste and budget. You get less gaming efficiency but gain flexibility and a fantastic user community.

PC gaming discourse is WAY too focused on high-end performance. It's. becoming clear with console gamers now doubting their industry. PC gaming is great for plenty of reasons that have nothing to do with performance. howtogeek.com/760146/why-pc-…

@LilithLovett That's exactly what I did, though I did sell some games to build my pc because I went top of the line at the time. Don't regret it. Good chance the ps6 will only compete with my 4090 let alone eclipse it.

@KJovian @asha_shar If anything, this will embolden them to go digital as well. What Microsoft could do is open the platform and let other stores enter like a pc. That would be interesting.

This, if pulled off correctly will single handedly put XBOX in a A LOT of people’s good graces after what Sony fumbled Come on @asha_shar we believe in you! The CDs need to be all Xbox games from OG, 360 and One and Series. They should all have this feature and I would have no problem getting a Helix!

Xbox could launch its disc-to-digital conversion system as soon as next week “Project Positron” would turn eligible physical games into digital licenses

@Toadsanime Venting is good. No shame wanting to do it. Hope things improve soon for you both. I work in Healthcare and see burnout from partners and caregivers a lot. Bottling the frustrations never works so unload what you can when you can.

I'm back to work as normal currently - which is tough, but also I get anxious being away from work, and the distraction is welcome too. Sorry I've been out of form with posting, hoping to be back on it ASAP! ❤️

My home situation unfortunately continues to be very difficult - tonight is another really bad one. Feel a bit helpless as a partner with my other half in mental health crisis that I'm unable to help him from. Just crying and death threats non-stop. Incredibly draining. 💔

@younghavok Yup, and people act like this is the norm for AAA games. Most have some form of day 1 patch with much needed improvements, some even require it. Modern game testing isn't what it used to be because the standards aren't needed at launch. Kinda broke my joy of physical games tbh

@VideosYan PC are not gaming machines but multipurpose units that can also game. It's why they lack some of the QoL features have because they aren't consoles. Going digital when they did also has set them up to capitalize big on this Sony fuck up. PC is the place to be for digital gaming.

@GorillaStomp Only way these things actually occur is if Sony allows competing store fronts to be on their platform which won't happen. No incentive to do these things unless people stop buying games on their platform overall. I almost never buy PS games these days, either Switch or PC.

@BlackBurai Yeah, I only buy physical games on my switch. Won't do Key Card either. I just get digital games on PC. Switch is for exclusives as I don't really play handheld mode either. Had a Steam deck, never used it.

@SHINTAB_44 My top of the line pc cost me $3k+ over 3 years ago. Granted it was a launch 4090 and AM5 was brand new so everything was at a premium. I did this because I wanted the best 4k experience and PC has a much better digital game experience and ecosystem. Lots of options there.

@levas1786 100%, there's no real incentive currently to move on to whatever the next generation has to offer, especially not at that price point (assuming it doesn't go up even higher between now and then)

Even if Sony didn't shit the bed like they have, it would still be a no. Current gen at its CHEAPEST can barely justify its price compared to PC, and you think people are gonna pay over $1k for a console, plus $70-80 per game, PLUS over $100 a year on internet? Not happening.

@EvilGouken Yes, this would help alleviate concerns with the ps6. Doubtful with ps5. I like as a PC gamer having multiple storefront and key competitors for games.

Pero lo que sí puede hacer es obligar a Sony a que permita que se usen diferentes stores en Playstation 6 al igual que obligó a Apple a que se pueda instalar la EPIC Store en Iphone.

NEW: 🇪🇺 An EU commissioner said they can't stop PlayStation from ending physical discs because "companies are free to offer services in any manner they see fit.” Gamers called their bluff, citing if they can force Nintendo to make removable batteries, they can also get Sony to "bend their knees."

@raymater55 Yup, the cdrom helped build Sony into a powerhouse and could undo its appeal by 2030. Lack of physicsl media, exclusives, first party bangers, and closed platform model being anti consumer, will have people considering alternatives.

@Colteastwood I agree that we need better digital ownership rights. How Sony pursues while will affect whether consumers will stay or shift to cheaper (Nintendo) or to a more robust digital ecosystem like PC. Many will stay with PS, but the exodus could be notable over the next two years.

PlayStation; if you're going to get rid of the option to buy physical discs, you 1. HAVE to implement a REFUND policy. 2. HAVE to offer Disc-to-Digital 3. REMOVE variable pricing. 4. Address your customers.

@NoseOfDeath True, pc are multipurpose machines. Gaming wise there are multiple store fronts and key sites to compete with each other. Sony will monopolize game prices via PSN which is not good for the consumer.

@BringBackBanjoK Yeah, physical new game sales used to be good in the states but not in recent years. Pc is usually the route to go if you want a discount of some form so I usually do that.

So I just bought Marvel Tokon for £38 through amazon germany. Digital is £59.99 Cheapest UK retailer is £54.99 Almost 40% saving from digital price on a NEW RELEASE. I was able to do this cos physical media allows for competitive pricing. This is what they're taking from you.

@_Deez_Games All digital is great, on PC. New games is cheaper on PC but I will admit those clearance physical game prices will be hard to match for some games. Stores try to clear inventory means better prices for us. Sony removing their only competitors for their product is not good for us.

Deez Games 🎮 NO DISC 💿 NO BUY
You're literally a fucking idiot if you defend an all digital future. SO many people will be priced out of gaming. I can afford gaming at any cost, but i can not and will not justify spending double/triple due to corporate greed. Sony want to create a monopoly. They're scum.

@TheLastRonin714 I would rather fight for improved digital rights ownership instead of physical disc. Trends are leaning digital, physical isnt as content complete and stable as generations prior. Pushing for improved digital ownership will protect more consumers than physical imo.

If digital is your preference, great. You no longer have to endure the exhausting journey of getting up to change a disc. But advocating for Sony to abolish physical games is just weird. Why fight to remove a choice that doesn’t affect you? More options help everyone… right?
