I've really enjoyed working with Romulo Manzano and the Evermark team over the past couple of months, and I expect Evermark is going to be a huge hit with the #eta #searchfund Community.

1/ As a former OCC bank examiner and 3x fintech founder (of companies that faced debanking—1x under Trump, 2x under Biden), I have a lot to say about @pmarca's comments on debanking. It’s real, it’s nuanced, and yes, politics plays a big role. Let’s start with some facts. 🧵

If you're like me and are anxious about the election, I'd like to recommend volunteering for a voter assistance hotline. I've worked with the Texas Voter Assistance program for the last 2 election cycles and it's the most meaningful political work I've ever done. You're not block walking or cold calling. Instead, volunteers get trained on how to help people who are legally registered to vote navigate state and local voting procedures and cast their ballots. I'm doing my training for the program today, and hope you can join me: mobilize.us/tdpvoterprotec…

I don’t care how much visibility it adds, liking your own posts on LinkedIn is cringe.

Prediction: as AI continues to reduce barriers to entry in the tech world, the ability to think critically about issues of justice, human rights, and society will become even more valuable. Skilled generalists, philosophers, and yes, English majors will do especially well. We're entering exciting and unprecedented times - how we think about ourselves in relation to and in conjunction with technology will become ever more important. 🔭

Hey @RepJeffDuncan, @SCEMD, @LindseyGrahamSC, @henrymcmaster, @POTUS, @fema … can someone explain how Laurens County isn’t declared a federal disaster? My businesses and my 53 workers have been without electricity and internet since Friday at 6am, we couldn’t even get out of town last week due to all the trees and flooding. And now we don’t have FEMA relief or anything to help these workers? I just took out cash from my personal account to ensure the people I’m meeting in our communities can pay their bills, get food/ice/water, etc; need some help from y’all soon And for my SMB community, this is what you sign up for, I’d appreciate some help spreading the message of what’s happening in the path of Helene for small biz owners … it’s going to be a lot worse for others

A New Chapter... After an incredible 3-year journey at CaneKast, I'm thrilled to announce I'll be moving on. We've built an amazing platform of systems, technology, and most importantly, people at CaneKast - and we've all learned much along the way. In doing this, I have realized the need for far better resources to run small businesses, industrial and non-industrial. I am, at heart, a teacher and want to take some time to do some deep work, developing tools and resources that allow new and young business owners to excel in what they do. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and I'm passionate about enabling them. From my work with @IVMFSyracuseU to the coaching and consulting I do, I believe Small Business fixes so many things in this country. 📈 They increase economic mobility 💰 Spread wealth more equitably 🛡️ Derisk economic shocks 🌱 Develop leaders at lightning speed 🧠 Enhance industry knowledge 🤝 Foster genuine relationships, not office politics We need more small businesses, and we need the current ones to do far better. Is this permanent, no - I still need to work and provide for my family 😉. I'll be either starting or buying a business soon. However, over the next few months I am going to go heads down into documenting and developing a pool of resources, tools, playbooks, and systems to enable small business excellence across the board. I’ve had the desire to step away and focus on this for years, and feel that now is the time given the experience I have (increasing) and the energy levels I have (decreasing) Over the next few months, I'll be: 🎤 Speaking at small businesses on building high-performance teams and operations 🧠 Coaching CEOs and COOs to scale their companies 📚 Writing a book of mini-playbooks for common business challenges 💻 Hosting online trainings to share knowledge at scale 🤝 Consulting with SMBs to implement the SMB Blueprint Can I Help You? If you're a small business owner looking to level up, let's connect! Whether you need help with team building, strategic planning, or implementing efficient systems, I'm here to support your journey. In the meantime, I hope what I share over the next few months helps you greatly in building companies, developing people, and 10xing cash flow across your business. Let's build small business together! 💪

Despite not being a parent, I loved this advice for parents of new college students in @TheAtlantic today: “When parents send their children off to college, they need to encourage them not to focus on narrow careers but to acquire the sort of all-purpose intellectual skills that allowed [Benjamin] Franklin to thrive: the ability to ask deep questions and wrestle with big issues like human equality, the limits of individual freedom, and justice. Students need to learn how to reason critically; to distinguish bad, baseless ideas from deep and eternal insights; to justify their views; and to express those views lucidly enough for others to grasp.”

There's a fascinating #AI trend that I keep seeing on a daily basis. People working in AI are extremely bullish on the technology, the ability for AI researchers to push through existing challenges, and the power AI has to change the world. People on the periphery are largely not using it on a daily basis. As an AI optimist, I find myself spending a lot of time thinking about this gap and how technologists can make the benefits of AI more tangible to society more broadly...

@vrexec In cities with infrastructure built for cars, riding bikes feels unsafe much of the time. If you look at European countries with bike-centric cultures, bikes are given safer, dedicated space, away from cars more frequently
