I was waiting at a crosswalk in Tokyo. The traffic light was red but no cars were coming. A bunch of people were waiting anyway.
The tourist next to me said to his friend "why is everyone waiting? There's no cars."
He started to cross. An old woman said something to him in Japanese. He didn't understand and ignored her.
She stepped in front of him, blocking his path. Said more firmly in Japanese, pointing at the light.
A Japanese guy nearby translated for the tourist: "She says you must wait for the green light. Even if there are no cars. That is the rule."
Tourists got annoyed. "That's a stupid rule. There's literally no cars."
The translator told the old woman what he said. She responded in Japanese.
The translator said: "She says rules are not about cars. Rules are about respect for order. If everyone follows rules only when convenient, society breaks down. You wait for the green light because that is what civilized people do. Not because of cars. Because of civilization."
The tourist kind of scoffed but stopped trying to cross.
The light turned green. The old woman smiled at him, gestured for him to go ahead of her.
As we all crossed, the translator said to me quietly "she is right, you know. We follow small rules so we can trust each other with big rules."
That stuck with me. The idea that waiting at an empty crosswalk isn't about traffic. It's about proving to each other that we're all willing to follow rules even when no one would know if we didn't.

Women: I want to go for a run.
Society: You can’t go alone. You’ll get raped.
Women: I want to walk to my car in the parking garage.
Society: Alone? You better get someone to escort you, or you’ll get raped.
Women: I want to live alone.
Society: You need a gun, an alarm system, a dog and probably a gun for the dog too.
Women: What about going to the park?
Society: Dangerous.
Women: Okay, I’ll just go out for a drink then.
Society: Don’t take your eyes off your drink. Watch out for predators spiking your drinks. Stay alert at all times.
Women: I was raped.
Society: Are you sure? That just seems impossible.

Try going on Disney owned ABC and saying that Michelle Obama deserves to be a widow.
Or Jill Biden. Or Hillary Clinton.
You’d not only have your show canceled, you’d be banned from network media for life.
And I’d agree with that. Because wishing death on a woman’s husband is an evil thing to do.
No matter the politics. So why is it ok for @Disney owned @ABC to allow Jimmy Kimmel to wish death on Trump and his supporters time and time again?
It’s not. It’s indefensible. Fire Jimmy Kimmel. Enough.

Dear Mr. President: Please abolish State Testing and please come up with a better way for schools to prove that they're teaching kids, pleaseandthankyou! @realDonaldTrump

Janine should've flown by herself to The Outer Banks while Gregory should've driven by himself. Their vacation together could've started when they met at the hotel or whatever at the end of the day. Why did they not discuss that?! #AbbottElementary

@iam_biglad1 Getting married on Halloween where everyone wears costumes sounds way more fun than getting married in the summer.

Educators are supposed to teach kids HOW to think, not WHAT to think!
Educators are also supposed to keep their opinions to themselves. If a kid disagrees with you, they'll use that as an excuse to not obey your authority.
Educators are also supposed to teach that school is important. Stay in school; don't skip it.
Lastly, educators are also supposed to be teaching that you follow the rules: classroom rules, school rules, state laws, federal laws...

Imagine the level of ideological capture required to stand shoulder to shoulder with ten thousand people in minus thirty degree weather… not to defend your own children, your own neighborhoods, your own wages, or your own sovereignty… but to protest on behalf of illegal criminal aliens who violated the law to enter the country and would never endure that cold, that sacrifice, or that risk for you.
That is not compassion. That is inversion.
You are freezing your body to protect people who openly reject your laws, your culture, and your nation… while ignoring citizens crushed by crime, addiction, inflation, and collapsing public order. You have been trained to feel morally superior for defending outsiders while treating your own people as expendable.
No nation survives when loyalty flows outward instead of inward. No society remains sane when empathy is weaponized against self preservation. And no movement is more dangerous than one that convinces people to suffer proudly for those who would never lift a finger for them.
That is not virtue.
That is liberal brainwashing.

And this is what people are not talking about enough: Trump does not hate illegal immigrants.
He told them straight up what he was going to do. That warning gave them a head start. If he was hateful, he would be playing a "BOO! GOTCHA!" game right now.
He is giving them the financial means to deport. If he was hateful, he wouldn't be paying them.
He is giving them another chance to make the right choice. If he was hateful, he wouldn't care if they mess their lives up.
And he is telling them to come back!!! If he was hateful, he would want them gone forever.
No one is giving Trump credit for how much grace he's extending. For how much mercy he is showing. For how fair he is being. For how much compassion he has. He is handling this immigration issue so well and deserves much more praise! 👏🏻

ICE did NOT target a child. The child was ABANDONED.
On January 20, ICE conducted a targeted operation to arrest Adrian Alexander Conejo Arias an illegal alien from Ecuador who was RELEASED into the U.S. by the Biden administration.
As agents approached the driver Adrian Alexander Conejo Arias, fled on foot—abandoning his child. For the child’s safety, one of our ICE officers remained with the child while the other officers apprehended Conejo Arias.
Parents are asked if they want to be removed with their children, or ICE will place the children with a safe person the parent designates. This is consistent with past administration’s immigration enforcement. Parents can take control of their departure and receive a free flight and $2,600 with the CBP Home app. By using the CBP Home app illegal aliens reserve the chance to come back the right legal way.

In Minneapolis, ICE arrested a 5-year-old coming home from preschool and tried to use him as human bait. His teacher describes him as “a bright young student.” These monsters are sick.

The following is a post someone made to People Magazine that puts it all into perspective.
She was a 37-year-old woman, a mother of three kids. It’s the middle of a work week. The father of those children is deceased. She is her children’s only living parent. The one job she has above every cause, every protest, every headline, is getting home to her kids.
And what is she doing instead?
She’s out of state, in the street, in her car, blocking federal agents who are doing their job. Her partner is right there, too, filming her like this is some brave little documentary moment. Around them: whistles blaring, people yelling, pure chaos…manufactured chaos, so agents can’t do their lawful duty.
Her window is down. She hears the orders. She understands the orders. She ignores the orders. I think this person sums it up perfectly
Then, she puts the car in reverse. Still doesn’t comply.
Then, she puts it in drive, NOT park! She moves forward into the agent.
Now, put yourself in the agent’s shoes for half a second. A driver is already in an unlawful act and refusing commands in a hostile, chaotic scene, and now that driver uses a vehicle to move toward you.
You get a split second.
You don’t get the luxury of “Maybe she’s just stressed.” You have to assume the worst. You have to think of protecting other people because if you assume the best and you’re wrong, you don’t go home and maybe others are injured or killed.
So, the agent fires after she makes an intentional and aggressive move toward him, because he has no idea what her intentions are, and she just demonstrated she’s willing to escalate.
Now…imagine her three kids.
At school,…sitting there like any other day. Not knowing their mother is out playing street-hero games for criminals.
She didn’t think about them.
She didn’t think, “If I get arrested, who picks my babies up?”
She didn’t think, “If I get hurt, who takes care of them?”
She didn’t think, “If I die, who raises them?”
She thought about protecting criminals. She thought about interfering with federal agents.
She thought about the camera.
She thought about the crowd.
She thought about the moment.
There is no amount of evidence, money, tears on TV, or news spin that can make this make sense.
As a mother: NOTHING about this makes sense.
At minimum, she knew her actions could get her arrested. And, she still chose it. She chose strangers. She chose chaos. She chose lawlessness.
Make it make sense, because the only thing I see is three kids who just got abandoned by the only parent they had left, not by accident… but by a series of deliberate choices.

At her exit interview, HR asked,
"Was there anything we could’ve done to stop you from leaving?"
She smiled politely and said,
"I just wish someone had asked me if I was okay... before I decided to go."
HR was surprised.
"But you were always smiling, always on time, doing everything perfectly."
She replied,
"Because crying at work isn’t an option, is it?"
The truth is — she wasn’t running after a better salary or a bigger company.
She was just tired.
Tired of holding everything together while nobody noticed how she was doing.
Tired of being strong when she just needed support.
No one was rude to her.
But no one checked in either.
People don’t always leave for money.
Sometimes, they leave because they feel invisible.
Check in. Not just on deadlines, but on people.
It could make all the difference.

your SPOUSE is the one who’ll sit beside you when your PARENTS DIE. who’ll hold your hand through CHILDBIRTH. who might have to BATHE YOU if you’re ever too sick to stand. this isn’t just about BUTTERFLIES or DATE NIGHTS. it’s about choosing someone who SHOWS UP... in GRIEF, in MESS, in UNCERTAINTY. so no, LOVE ALONE isn’t enough. COMMITMENT, MATURITY, and the ability to ENDURE life’s ugly parts... that’s what sustains a MARRIAGE. because when life gets PAINFULLY REAL, ROMANCE won’t carry you... CHARACTER will. and the truth is, FOREVER is only possible with someone who knows how to STAY when it’s HARD TO LOVE

***Student habitually disrupts a classroom***
Administrator: "They need more support."
Special Ed: "They can't do the work, so they lash out."
Parent: "They didn't do anything wrong."
Reality: The student has conducted an experiment on power and found out they have it and you, the teacher, don't.
When the response doesn't include a view of this reality and a dose of consequences, the child isn't being helped, they're being empowered to bully everyone around them, including the person in the room who should be the authority.
