Another MPP feature: sessions. Sessions are an implementation of state channels (!) and allow an agent to stream payments at the speed of packets and then settle onchain in a single transaction, i.e. you’re not limited to the speed of the blockchain. Tempo has and will have best-in-class transactions per second but sessions mean that we can scale payments for agents an order of magnitude more…today.

Agent payments will soon overtake human payments on the internet. The Machine Payments Protocol (@mpp) is a new open standard co-authored by @stripe and @tempo. It’s designed to be extensible and payment-method agnostic, already supporting stablecoins, cards, and more.

The infrastructure for agentic commerce is being built right now. The decisions we make about credentials, reach and standards will define how agents transact for years to come. 🧵
