@TracketPacer I remember a guy in my shop having some chinese knockoff of a Fluke Network tester and it was actually pretty good.
Obviously would've loved the original but they're so nifty

@CommotionLotio1 @TracketPacer What happened here is netally (company with the bluish grey and green colored tools) is spun out of fluke/netscout and retained the network testing tools, including the one touch AT (g2) which shares the versiv mainframe with the fluke dsx and optifiber/simpliber test modules 1/2

A clean, properly cable managed, properly labeled, and properly documented MDF/IDF is about making it significantly easier to troubleshoot for everyone. This is not a case of "it works, leave it".

Random reply dudes be like:."OMG. It's OCD to want the vendor you pay to do the cabling right. If it works, why care? " Random reply guys obviously did not check the replies: 1. 15-20% of the drops were not working. It wasn't just this closet, but two others as well, just like this one. 2. These were 4510R+E switches in the picture. The cables were completely obstructing the exhaust of almost all the switches. Airflow and cooling are important. 3. Troubleshooting L1 issues in this mess would be a shitshow. We've ALL been there with rats' nests like this. It isn't fun. 4. A vendor was paid to do this slop work. Their scope of work included cable management and clear labeling of the cables. That clearly did not happen, as one can see from this picture. Cabling doesn't need to be perfect, but it should be manageable.

The first time I saw a MAC table get exhausted, it wasn’t an attack, it was my core switch begging for an upgrade. But the end result? Same chaos. Switch flooded, performance tanked, packets flying everywhere.
MAC table exhaustion isn’t just a hacker trick, it’s a real risk if you’re not watching your gear.

Annnndddd... the first thing I do after getting back from #CiscoLive is to island a remote switch by enabling arp inspection before trusting the uplink port.
No OoB console, and I didn't even do the "reload in 5" trick.
