Some days as a parent are so difficult. And your child will embarrass the fuck out of you. Then you have to be gentle bc you don’t know if it’s age or autism or both.
This morning was a nightmare. In front of a ton of people. And I can’t even believe this is my life.

And moreover - in Houston’s largest school district - these mandated practices that presumably may improve student scores on standardized exams are NOT grounded on empirical, peer-reviewed studies.
We are experimenting.

Some new policies at #HISD that haven’t been publicly communicated to parents & students. I don’t know how anyone cld expect a teacher to teach like this. They want a generation of students with no critical thinking skills/creativity to problem solve. They’re going to be drones.

As an end-of-summer treat, I told my 5yo he can stay up as late as he wants tonight. His regular bedtime is 7:30. It’s 7:50 and he’s outside swinging on his swing set telling me this is the best day ever. Will keep you posted on how long he makes it.
