Whelp. Santa brought me a root canal + a Dec 23 sinus surgery, thanks to complications from Covid back in July. The hope is that these awful interventions might finally get me healthy again - and able to treat my arthritis with biologics again. But don’t worry, it’s just a cold.

@nvpkp Programming my coffee maker the night before. Prepping & portioning fruits & veggies when my groceries get delivered on Sundays. Also, getting my groceries delivered. All-matching socks and containers/lids. Forcing myself to book 6mo of appointments for the whole fam twice a yr.

i would like to hear about the little life optimizations you've done that no one asks about but you really wanna share me? i put my car keys on a (not-keychain-sized) teddy bear so i can always find them inside my great purse which carries all necessities

@emilykmay So true. We tried many things but landed on my husband working 80% of FT (12h nursing shifts) - and once our daughter hit middle school, I switched from 8-5 to a 4/10 work week with only 1 day/week in the office. We’re lucky. But it’s STILL hard. I’ve been exhausted since 2008.

the 8-5 schedule is a nightmare for families, 5/7 days a week people are arriving home during the worst time of day for kids. everyone is exhausted, and then the adults can reconnect at 9 pm when they've had every last ounce of energy sapped out of them.

Today’s the day for CT results with my new ENT. Covid complications are complicationing. It’s been 4.5 months of nonstop sinus infections and not being able to use biologics for my arthritis and I’d just like to say that I did everything I could to avoid this in the first place.

My dad got in a fight with his super-conservative friend today. The friend tried to play it off as ‘it’s okay to disagree’ but my dad said no, not on things like this. My older white Mennonite/Evangelical raised-on-a-farm dad. He’s grown & shifted so much - and it gives me hope.

@kyle_minogue I’m so sorry. I had no issue in July - but last month, a high-risk friend was told she could get a prescription… for almost $2K (no coverage). It’s illogical.

It’s been 2 months + 3 days since I tested positive for Covid. I’m still sick and on my third round of antibiotics for secondary infections. You’re not ‘crazy’ or ‘anxious’ for still taking precautions. You’re kind. #immunocompromisedinaneverendingpandemic

Trying to navigate drivers ed registration will be my villain origin story. It would be impossible to make it harder or to explain it worse. The funniest part is that I have an only child so whatever I learn will be useless in about two days. Also I’m kind of smart usually?

@realgirl_fieri We overcelebrated holidays - real ones, unimportant ones like Pi Day, and even one that my daughter invented. And random theme nights (like making Dole Whip and watching Disney ride videos). We would go all in and decorate, make food, dress up. Great memories from a hard time.

@JustinTrudeau @TerryDuguid How it feels to read this as an immunocompromised Winnipegger who has lost my entire summer so far to Covid and its after effects… If it’s not over for everyone, then it’s not over.

During the pandemic, in 2021, I had a Zoom call with front-line healthcare workers in Winnipeg. I thanked them for their courageous work — and promised to celebrate with them in person once it was all over. This week, I got to make good on that promise.

@jbillingsley I’m so sorry. That seems about right! Hope it’s quick and uncomplicated for you. I just passed the five week mark since I tested positive - and went back to the office today (finally).

Our son is at his first sleep away camp this week. I immediately tested positive for Covid, so my wife moved into the guest suite. 🤦‍♂️

@EvHanson2 I’m so sorry. It’s not a fix - but something I’ve tried when it gets this bad is getting my husband to drive me to a float appointment. It’s NOT a cure but spending 90 min floating in sensory deprivation sometimes gets my brain back in the game so I can deal with the pain better.

You know those times when you are having a pain flare up and none of the meds in your arsenal are working? I’m struggling to hold it together. The last time I went to urgent care for help with pain, I heard nurses talking behind my back, saying that I had no reason to be there.

@EvHanson2 This is where I am right now. I tested positive on July 2. The earliest date I can hopefully restart my most immunosuppressive meds is August 9. So I’m dealing with ongoing complications from Covid *and* an arthritis flare… and missing my entire summer.

One thing that is generally not considered when it comes to folks with autoimmune illnesses is that, if they get sick, they may need to temporarily discontinue their immunocompromising medications until they are better. And yet most people are ok with infecting them with covid.

Still symptomatic and exhausted and testing positive for Covid on Day 9. And I took Paxlovid. Is everyone else having a nice summer so far? It looks lovely out there. 🤦🏼‍♀️

It’s my birthday. I have Covid. And the greatest gift the world could give me would be to stop saying ‘What?! Really??!! I didn’t know Covid was still around!’ Ironically, I kept myself safe through an entire work conference and a week in NYC… then caught it from my husband. 🤷🏼‍♀️

So if my doctors want me to take Paxlovid but I can’t find a pharmacy in Manitoba that stocks it… I’m just on my own? Love that for me. #covidroundtwo
