@then_right59532 @DrewSav @MendezMovieRPT Yes in 2021? By the actual election in 2024 they had improved. But what does any of that even have to do with what we're talking about. You can be "unpopular" and lose an election if you're less unpopular then the other guy. That doesn't mean you're not unpopular though

@BakeK82 @impostersyndrum @StatisticUrban No I’m pretty sure it would just go to the state Supreme Court to draw maps and then the Supreme Court if things couldn’t get resolved there. Now you may say that judges would be too corrupt and it would become partisan again and that might be true, but at that point nothing

@impostersyndrum @StatisticUrban Requirements like the final map has to be aggreed upon by at least one member of each group and theres a specific way they’re appointed. It may not be a perfect system but it seems like it would clearly be better then an obviously partisan state legislature

@impostersyndrum @StatisticUrban The “redistricting reform act” proposed a few months ago would require a commission of 15 members, 5 independents and 5 from each party. The independents would have to be screened, not have been an officer of a political party or pac nor their family members. There’s a few other

@norwalkiian @SaltierSauceAL @yhdistyminen @xwanyex Yes their logic is that bringing trans penis unprompted is completely normal and fine but talking about the republican president is irrelevant and an example of "Trump derangement syndrome"

Yes. Democracies initially succeeded in part because they were **better** at dealing with crime than autocracies as they consistently protected the individual rights of victims. What a profoundly depressing trend.

Some countries have seen "Bukele in reverse." Brazil democratized in the 1980s, and has been more violent ever since. If democracies can't deal with crime, then that will only discredit the very idea of democracy.

@JDStokes79 @chrxs87 @adyanalistens @DNeckel19 ??? How is that playing word games? If the term "general election" is used to mean one thing in one part of the constitution then it should also mean the same thing in another part of the constitution?

@chrxs87 @adyanalistens @DNeckel19 The minority played the same kind of word games that flat-earthers and Dave Champion fans do..."this word means X in THIS section, so it MUST mean X in this OTHER section!" The majority correctly called BS on it.

@PsychicRetardo @electionsjoe You guys are gonna be so mad in 26 when you're forced to realize that dems losing an election by 1.5% doesn't banish them to be out of power for the rest of time

In case it is not clear. I believe we MUST pass a mid-decade redistricting and gerrymandering ban. Along with increasing the number of members in the house. It is the only way to end this endless cycle.

genuinely crazy how much more of a fuss the Virginia redistricting vote got compared to Florida ignoring the state constitution or Louisiana literally suspending elections the incentives here are completely FUBAR

@thatchthoughts @MrAtomicB1 @CameronCorduroy Im not smart enough to tell the exact difference but also it doesn't matter anyway because the ruling has nothing to do with Florida outlawing partisan gerrymandering

@MrAtomicB1 @thatchthoughts @CameronCorduroy You have no idea about anything brother. The SC said that states don’t have to racially gerrymander based on the federal voting rights act. It said nothing about states having their own standards to redistrict based on their state constitutions

@Devildogg3100 @hulsey_ryan @mattyglesias There is no such thing "as an actual candidate". Faithless electors have frequently voted for people not actually running for office. The first elections of president had no one "running as candidates" in the way we think about it
