We used to be a proper country where you could post about a fic concept and people would reply and you could bounce ideas off of each other and elaborate on plots. Now the replies of every fic concept I see are nothing but that obnoxious “you have link? give.” GIF

it’s become more about consumption over connection, the very antithesis of what art should be. and yes, fic is art to me. and the authors i know, the authors i’m friends with, whose fics are pretty much the only ones i trust to read now, treat them like art too.
