Built payments for SA’s eToll system and a few ideas that should’ve stayed on the whiteboard. Now breaking into cyber security (the legal kind).

@OnDisasters The SAA, and more recently FlySafair pilots train in the simulator for months before attempting this. The timing and coordination with the groundstaff at the stadium is incredibly difficult as you don't want to fly over during the middle of the national anthem.

Air Safety #OTD by Francisco Cunha
On this day in 2003 - Epic South African Airways Fly by, with two Boeing 747 and an A340, on a display over the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg before the ICC Cricket World Cup final. (Many thanks to the page 747 Queen of the Skies for sharing this video, recorded then by SABC)

@dhh @Dell @intel I'm struggling with this keyboard layout. The up/down arrow keys are too small and the placement of the power button seems illogical.

We now have a version of Omarchy where everything is working out-of-the-box with the new Dell XPS Panther Lake machine! Webcam, sound, display refresh. Huge thanks to @dell and @intel for this collaboration! Excited to get this released in time for first customer machines 🤘

@ashtonshudson If you plan a month in advance you can get flights for half that price.

COJ incompetence is on another level. Bought a house in November. Requested a new COJ account in Nov. 6 month backlog on new accounts so I don’t have a new account yet. The very same COJ just disconnected my electricity for non-payment on an account they haven’t opened yet

@JacquesMaree73 i was being ambiguous, granted, but i was largely criticising the national government. we have a major water crisis looming, and national government is being very casual about it. in the WC, it obviously needs several solutions (desalinisation, pumped storage etc…)

the only insane thing about this is that 8 years ago cape town got a massive warning for the shortfall in water storage. in the 8 years since, we have built literally 0 new dams. it’s not a rainfall problem, this is a planning problem
City of Cape Town@CityofCT

Cape Town's dam levels have dropped to 50.4% due to high water usage and the heatwave. Remember, water is essential only for necessary purposes. Let's work together to save water and delay restrictions. Every drop counts!

@FinanceGhost A mate showed me a trading app he vibe-coded, tested, bug fixed and deployed to production using only his mobile phone and Telegram. It works and is currently trading 24/7. Believe me when I say this is going to turn the entire software industry upside down.

X feed: Everything will be vibe coded! SPAR update: Ya so that SAP thing was bad hey. But we have a plan. And also a lawsuit. But yes, vibe code all of it, enterprise level software included. I'm sure that will work out fine.

@wendyknowler My 80r old mother who suffers from Parkinson's phoned @StandardBankZA for assistance with her debit card which wasn't working. Next I receive an email she's been talked into a UCount rewards (debit order). Now I've got to sort this out. This is so predatory.

@2oceansvibe Great example of why security awareness training is so important, especially in the procurement department.

⚔️ Age of Empires 2 ⚔️ StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty ⚔️ Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos ⚔️ Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 To me, those are all incredible milestones of gaming history. What a time to be a gamer then, witnessing absolute masterpieces that will still be talked about many, many years from now. If you think about how lucky we were to play them, starting in the late 80s with Herzog Zwei, early 90s with Mega-Lo-Mania, Dune II, all the way to the 2010s, when I feel the gaming industry slowly moved away from them. A true testament of time is how well these games still hold up today, decades later...

@folaoftech Could be vision impaired. Why make fun of a possibly disabled person? Would you make a video of a deaf person using sign language with the caption,"what is bro doing with this hands 😱"

Each microservice owns its database. Now the business asks for a real-time dashboard requiring joins across multiple services. Your non technical manager asks you to do it in 1 sprint without breaking service isolation? What's your plan ?

In 1947 HMS VANGUARD, the last British battleship took the King & His family to South Africa. TOP SECRET MOD files, only declassified in late 2025 reveal a very different story about how the ship came close to open mutiny - with MI5, the Admiralty and the King all involved...
