Extremely disappointed im @AlaskaAir change in bag policy eliminating the 2 free bags for military spouses unless they're traveling with the active duty member. As a milspouse, I often have to travel alone precisely because my spouse is active duty. Very disappointed.

Late last night, at around 9:00pm PDT, officials at Gray Army Airfield, part of Joint Base Lewis-McChord (JBLM) near Tacoma, Washington, “lost contact” with a AH-64E “Apache” Attack Helicopter attached to the U.S. Army’s 16th Combat Aviation Brigade near Summit Lake to the southwest of JBLM. Local and military authorities responded to the area where the helicopter last made contact, reportedly discovering a large debris field and several fires, with officials confirming this morning that the helicopter had crashed, killing both the pilot and co-pilot with the 16th Combat Aviation Brigade, 7th Infantry Division, I Corps.

The same work could be accomplished on a 4/10 schedule and was previously. Even with 4/10, many weeks end up being 5 or 6 with travel. Mandating 5/8 for those who also are mandated to 1 weekend/2wks a year is NOT good policy. Please return active duty NG to allow 4/10s.

The result is high rates of burn out. Lack of family time. Worsened mental health. Even on the few days they are home, it's spent frantically preparing to leave again; not meaningful time to recharge and reconnect. 2/3 🧵

I think it’s underrated how the criminal justice reform push centered more on “let’s enforce the law less” than “let’s invest in prison rehab programs to reduce recidivism” in part because lots of libertarian, Koch aligned money was eager to back the former and not the latter
