the X algorithm change to boost mutuals is very welcome. this website became something else for a while, maybe that was valuable too but this is the twitter that I pretty much met everyone I know in my adult life on & im glad to see it come back

@gavinpurcell yes, I think everyone just has too much mental baggage from prior mediocre smart speakers. the model is the product in this case

people are crapping on this but folks we used alexa a ton in our home even as dumb as it was mostly fell off because of how dumb it was if it could *do* stuff, would be a big deal

having some luck with compaction by telling codex to write a markdown plan and re-ground on it every time. it makes a little scratchpad under the plan for progress etc

modern media would have you believe the biggest technology companies are nefarious & evil but all of them make something wonderful no matter how much people want to claim otherwise

@yitong it works well because the plan is strictly mechanical, not "prose". it has a set of fail and success conditions and specific implementation details

@localghost this is like DIY compaction haha. likely, the compaction calls to a dumber faster model so if you are mainlining sol, DIY compaction by sol is better

@localghost higher satisfaction scores would contribute to better overall brand — something I anecdotally feel is polarizing since I was a huge fan of Twitter

Some random thoughts on the timeline change: + Probably slightly net-worse on total time spent until new content gets folded in? This is a well known problem in the social feed space. + Likely far higher satisfaction and less churn though, so probably a reasonable trade-off.
