@plaidifanc I'm not sure REEN is a good enough suggestion. I have just been telling my Welsh class to pronounce every letter Rh Een not Reen

English Speakers, here is a guide on the pronunciation of Wales’ First Minister’s name: Rhun = REEN (think Green without G) ap = APP (this is ‘child of’, like ‘Mac’) Iorwerth = Yorr-Where-th (think ‘Your Worth, but with an E instead of O) Thank you.

Do you happen to need a first edition of The Lord of the Rings, the first printing of all three volumes, beautifully bound in full red leather, sitting within a custom made clamshell case? And oh, did I mention the actual Tolkien signature bound into the endpaper of Vol 1. ?

A new shrine in Ipswich reconnects the town with a devotion nearly lost to history. At St Pancras Church, devotion to Our Lady of Ipswich is alive once again.

@TheNorfolkLion A couple of thoughts. First, that very impulse towards belief can be framed as the action of God's grace. Second, try church attendance instead of/as well as Bible reading. Being around other people who belief is inspirational at first, then aspirational. Certainly in prayers

As some of you who have known me for a while here know, I’m an atheist. However, I’ve also said that I wish I could believe. I was christened as a child and used to believe. As I’ve got older, I’ve become adamant that there’s no such thing as God. But over the last few years, I’ve been softening and trying to believe again. I’ve asked for so-called enlightenment, but nothing has happened. I read the Bible when I was a child but not since, so I’ve decided to start reading it again. It’s now my nightly ritual before bed. Please send prayers 🙏🏻 let’s hope some enlightenment or something meaningful happens. If God or Jesus don’t come to me after that, I’ll have to carry on being an atheist/realist.

Thus far, in the Senedd Elections, I have attended 3 hustings and organized 1 (Meifod, tomorrow evening, 7.30pm, since you ask). I think it remains very important to be in the same room as those asking for your vote, to see the whites of their eyes. Go on, be an active voter.

Tonight is the eve of May Day, an especially magical time of year. It's said that on May Eve in Herefordshire, early in the last century, 'folk used to put trays of moss outside their doors for the fairies to dance upon'.

@DonnaWarburton1 I agree. Choice is the real goal. Many of us are prepared to make lifestyle sacrifices to spend more time with our small children and some form of transferable allowance which could be spend on nursey or support family income in general would be ideal

All families could have the option to spend more time with their young toddlers/infants. That time is so precious and goes so quickly. Maybe that’s what politicians could be working towards? Btw, dads should also be included in that option. 3/3

I don’t know what I think about this story. I’m not particularly offended by what he said, I worked 2/3 half days a week when mine were small and my dad looked after the first two as he retired early. I looked after them myself on my days off while Simon worked until 1/3

I know at least 3 distinct philosophies among devoted Catholics RE: how they pick which Mass to go to: -Saturday Vigil, then leisure all Sunday -Early Sunday, set the tone for the day -Later Sunday, as the centerpiece of the day Would love to know your own philosophies here

We visit the site of the battle of Carham, where in 1018 (probably) a Scots-Strathclyde army defeated the Northumbrians, truncating Northumbria forever, sundering the patrimony of Saint Cuthbert, & creating a border that endures to this day: that between Scotland and England.
