I strongly condemn the disgraceful act of vandalism against the Tamil Genocide Monument in Brampton. This monument, dedicated to the victims of the Tamil genocide in Sri Lanka, serves as a place of remembrance. As the MPP for Markham-Thornhill, which is home to many Tamil people, I urge the community to remain united, resilient, and committed to preserving our collective memory with pride and strength.

Hate is the ugly face of humanity. The recent shootings targeting synagogues in Thornhill and North York are a stark reminder that antisemitism, racism, and violence remain real threats in our communities. There is no place in Ontario for hate. As the MPP for Markham–Thornhill—one of the most ethnically diverse ridings in Ontario—I strongly believe that our diversity is our strength and asset. We must see one another as brothers and sisters, learn about each other’s cultures, faiths, and values, and stand together in respect. As someone who has faced hate, racism, and discrimination, I understand the pain it causes. But I also believe deeply in the power of unity. When we stand together, hate will never define who we are.

I was thrilled to stop by and congratulate Don Cherry in person on his appointment to the Order of Ontario. Don is a great Canadian patriot and a champion for our country, our province and the game of hockey. Congratulations!

Happy to announce that Minister @TeamKerzner and our government are investing $398,597 to support victims of crime in York Region, as part of a general investment of $6 million over two years. @YRP will receive Victim Support Grant funding to work with local organizations to expand or enhance initiatives that support survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking.

We are proud to stand in solidarity with our Iranian brothers and sisters, alongside Premier @fordnation and my colleagues. Thank you to our Iranian brothers and sisters for their courage, resilience, and optimism in fighting against the brutal Iranian regime to bring about fundamental human rights — freedom, democracy, the rule of law, and peace.

Our government is committed to reducing red tape to help Ontario prosper and grow. I appreciate everyone who attended today for their thoughtful presentations and providing examples of red tape that’s hurting our competitiveness.
