Why was Andy Burnham addresssing a UK arms fair with several Israeli arms manufacturers in attendance? The UK Home Office and 10 Downing Street would have known this but Visas were granted to the arms firms and Andy Burnham did it anyway. This is what complicity in genocide looks like

Israel’s largest arms firms angrily refused to answer questions from independent media at an arms fair in England on Monday. They had been invited to the Farnborough International Airshow despite being required by French authorities to cover their stands in black drapes at the Paris airshow last year. One company at Farnborough, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), even threatened to report journalists to police for asking questions about its role in the Gaza genocide. 🔸BREAKING | The Republican-led House Ways and Means Committee has subpoenaed BreakThrough News for internal communications and financial records as part of an investigation the nonprofit outlet calls a politically motivated attack on independent journalism and the First Amendment. BreakThrough News says it has not been accused of any crime, receives no funding from foreign governments or institutions, and already complies with nonprofit tax and reporting requirements. The outlet says lawmakers are targeting its coverage of Palestine solidarity, ICE, Cuba and other U.S. foreign policy issues, and has retained legal counsel to fight the subpoena while launching a petition and fundraising campaign.

On the 5th of July 2024, when Starmer became Prime Minister, UNRWA reported that 38,011 Palestinians had been confirmed killed and 87,455 injured in Gaza by Israel since October 7th 2023. On the day Starmer resigned as PM, the 22nd of June 2026, UNRWA reported 73,035 Palestinians had been confirmed killed in Gaza since October 7th 2023 and a further 173,368 injured. During Starmer's tenure as PM, Israel thus killed a confirmed 35,024 Palestinians in Gaza and injured a further 85,913. These are likely to be very serious under-estimates. A significant portion of those killed were children. During this period, and with Starmer's approval, the UK continued to sell arms to Israel, including supplying parts for Israeli F-35 fighter jets, and shared intelligence with Israel from RAF's daily surveillance flights over Gaza.

It's considered tacky and unbalanced for journalists to celebrate a politician's downfall, but in this case it's warranted. Good riddance Steve Reed, one of the most toxic and malignant players in the Labour Together project, and a shocking, unedifying Minister. Reed has contributed nothing of value to public life. His years- long war on democracy have degraded the public sphere, undermined the law, made the UK a more divided place and eviscerated Labour support in cities throughout the UK appalled by his accommodationist, conservative approach. It would be more than fitting for him to lose his seat at the next election, and I will do everything I can to ensure that all faces justice for years of wrongdoing. As they say in South Africa: voetsak wena!

The idea that Starmer is going to retire to a quiet life on the backbenches is for the birds. There is fierce local anger at Starmer about how he ran the country, enabled genocide, and embraced anti-immigrant rhetoric while representing multicultural Camden. Camden will hold him to account in ways the Westminster class will not.
