The CHIPS Act will create good-paying jobs and lower costs while also investing in science & innovation to preserve American competitiveness. We’re one step closer to getting this bipartisan bill to the President’s desk. Time is of the essence - let’s get it done.

The Senate just moved forward on Chips for America with a strong bipartisan vote: 64-32. We're one step closer to lowering prices for Americans, strengthening domestic supply chains and bolstering national security. Congress should send this to @POTUS desk as soon as possible.

There's a reason China is watching the CHIPS for America Act so closely – it is trying to get ahead of us in making these chips and doesn’t want to get beat. America invented the semiconductor. It’s time to bring manufacturing – and the jobs that come with it – home.

We had SK Group at the White House for a meeting today. They’re investing billions in producing microchips here at home – which will help our supply chain and create jobs. The meeting was virtual, but I couldn’t miss the opportunity to say “hello” – even at a distance.

This morning, I met with my G7 counterparts to discuss President Putin’s unjustified attack on Ukraine and we agreed to move forward on devastating packages of sanctions and other economic measures to hold Russia to account. We stand with the brave people of Ukraine.

The Commerce report didn't find any hoarding (which was believed to contribute to the shortage) but said end users in the auto and medical devices sectors saw “unusually high prices.” @SecRaimondo said her agency will look into brokers that appear responsible here.
Jennifer Epstein@jeneps

@jendeben @ianmking Chip inventory has fallen from 40 days to 5 days. "That, to me, is the data point that tells you how fragile this supply chain is: Five days of inventory, no room for error," @SecRaimondo said. bloom.bg/3KHZEcX

The U.S. faces both an immediate supply shortage that's driving up prices & a long-term threat to 🇺🇸's economic & natl security if we don't increase the domestic supply of chips. We need smart, strategic investments to shore up our domestic supply chain. commerce.gov/news/press-rel…

Right now, there’s a kid out there whose family can’t afford her insulin because it costs $1,000 per month. The Build Back Better Act would cap their monthly insulin costs at $35. I’m committed as ever to getting it done for them.
