You see, this is one of the main reasons why even at the height of our trolling feud with Gingo, I never entertained the fringe xenophobes who kept insisting on questioning his South Sudanese origins. This man has done far more for South Sudan than the diaspora trolls who only contribute tweets and armchair analyses. What is nationality, if not the commitment to do good for the country you love?

A free time in my home library after so long . Reading legal philosophy, diplomacy and public international law books takes one back to the Academic world . Very refreshing.

Just finished watching the full Man Utd training clip from yesterday where Sesko scored 2 goals, and Cunha pinging in perfectly weighted through and diagonal balls, and all I can say is, pray for Brentford. 🙏

The 5th Interactive Dialogue on Human Rights Defenders (HRDs) in Exile and Protection Service Providers concluded with a panel discussion featuring the Steering Committee, who reflected on progress made since the last consultative dialogue. Exiled HRDs also used the opportunity to highlight key concerns impacting their sustenance and their ability to sustain activism in exile. They also shared concrete recommendations for the way forward with the protection service providers present. Our Executive Director @Hassan_shire closed the meeting by reaffirming that the recommendations shared during the 5th Interactive Dialogue on Human Rights Defenders (HRDs) in Exile will be taken seriously. He noted that DefendDefenders and the HRDs in Exile Working Group Steering Committee will meet to follow up on next steps. He encouraged exiled HRDs to build strong communities, reminding them that solidarity is key to navigating life in exile. “The worst thing is to remain in limbo as you await your return home. Make yourself an asset, find your niche, restart, and keep moving forward. You must have the willpower to rise again.” #EmpoweringExiledHRDs #PSP2025 #20YearsDefending

Our 5th Interactive Dialogue on Human Rights Defenders (HRDs) in Exile is currently underway. This year’s dialogue holds special significance as we commemorate 20 years of promoting, protecting, and amplifying the voices of HRDs forced into exile. Despite facing significant challenges, exiled HRDs have remained steadfast in their advocacy; sharing critical information from their home countries and engaging regional and international human rights mechanisms to advance justice and protection. We are honoured to be joined by exiled HRDs, legal experts, government representatives, and protection service providers as we reflect on our collective journey, assess ongoing challenges, and identify sustainable strategies to strengthen support for HRDs in exile. #EmpoweringExiledHRDs #PSP2025 #20YearsDefending

We condemn the brutal killing of South Sudanese Nationals by Sudan Forces and demand accountability. Sudan authorities must uphold their obligations under International Humanitarian and Human Rights Law to protect civilians without exception. This barbarity must end now!

SSHRDN had the privilege of engaging with the U.N. Special Rapporteur on the situation of Human Rights Defenders during the ongoing 7th Southern Africa Human Rights Defenders Summit. The team briefly highlighted the plight of HRDs; particularly those in the Environment and Extractive industry and #environmental #protection. #7thSDSummit #HumanRights #Protection #SouthernDefendersSummit

Known as Corporal Shakur, Jackson Kuria, a bold prison officer, has been recognized for his unwavering fight for justice and human rights. During the #FinanceBill2024 protests, he risked his career by speaking out against injustices in his official uniform. Despite facing threats, interdiction, and intimidation, Kuria remains committed to advocating for accountability and investigating enforced disappearances. As we mark African Human Rights Day, SSHRDN urges the government, civil society, and international partners to recommit to peace, justice, and accountability. Upholding human rights is not merely a goal but a shared responsibility that demands immediate, concrete action to prevent further loss of life and build a society where all individuals are respected and protected.
