Some weeks ago, Nkem 🌹 made a post asking: "Are we actually living our life, or are we living a written story?" I paused when I saw it. At that moment, I was at the police station, so I bookmarked it and told myself I would come back to it later. The truth is, nobody ...seemore

These kids really don’t realize that some of the decisions we make as parents are to shield them from certain harsh realities of life. My son told me he plans to share an apartment with his friends once he’s old enough and starts working. I just looked at him and smiled. 😂 Part of me honestly hopes he sticks to that plan for at least a while, because sometimes the only way to truly appreciate comfort, privacy, steady food, peace of mind, working appliances, and bills magically handled by “invisible forces” is to experience life on the other side. Growing up looked so exciting from a distance. Nobody told us that freedom comes with invoices.

My fiancé had one rule for me. No male friends. According to him, men only wanted one thing. He said he was protecting our relationship. To keep the peace, I gradually distanced myself from several close friends. Then one day I noticed something interesting. His phone was constantly lighting up with messages from women. Coworkers. Old classmates. His female best friend. When I pointed out the double standard, he got defensive. “They’re different.” I asked him how. He couldn’t explain it.

My colleague got promoted before her husband. The salary increase was massive. Everyone at work celebrated with her. Then someone asked: "How did your husband react?" She smiled awkwardly and said: "He doesn't know yet." We thought she was joking. She wasn't. Three months later, she still hadn't told him. Her reason?

It was great joining Njideka Akunyili Crosby — a gifted Nigerian-born, Los Angeles-based artist — to unveil our first portrait together. This piece reflects so many chapters of Michelle and my story, and we’re thrilled that it will be on display in the Hope and Change lobby at the Obama Presidential Center starting this Juneteenth.

@Righteous_pii Well, as a graduate, it comes with a lot of experience beyond just the academic aspect. You get to meet people from different backgrounds and for the first time, you experience life away from your parents. It gives you the opportunity to build networks, become more independent

I'm curious to know why good people are sometimes unlucky in relationships or encounter bad situations in life?

@lordshapilo I wouldn't support the generalization of AFRICAN PARENTS. Because not all African parents think like this. But I totally understand you're talking from d lens of what you may have seen. But any parent dismissing their responsibilities, I don't know why nor what to say to them 🤦🏾

Why do African parents act like providing basic necessities (clothing, shelter, and education) is an extraordinary sacrifice rather than a standard duty? You decided to have children, and not the other way around. So why are you acting like you’re doing your .......

@nkemdairies and sometimes that chance is divine grace. Human opportunities may run out, but faith keeps you moving forward. Sometimes faith did not fail, sometimes we simply reached the limit of the chances we were given. At the end of everything, this is what I know: I will not fail.

@nkemdairies be the very place where your strength is waiting to be discovered. Maybe we are living freely, or maybe we are moving through a written script. But if I am chosen, I believe I wouldn’t be sent into a desert without a source of water. We are always given chances,
