What an incredible evening in Washington, DC! 🌟 Huge congratulations to @nicolecimbura for being honored as the first recipient of the 2024 Sandy Morris Outstanding Advocate Award. 🏆 This marks the inaugural year of the @iamalsorg Annual Community Awards, created in memory of four remarkable individuals with #ALS—Sandy Morris (@sandymorris333), Becky Mourey (@becky_mourey), Scott Davis, and Sandra Marlowe (@sandrawmarlowe)—who each made a significant impact through their unique advocacy efforts. Sandy Morris, a formidable ALS advocate, connected early in her journey with @nicolecimbura, a dedicated caregiver for her husband, Mike Cimbura. Together, they embarked on a mission to transform the landscape of ALS advocacy, co-leading numerous projects over Sandy's four-and-a-half-year battle with the disease. 🌻 In her heartfelt acceptance speech, @nicolecimbura said, "I accept this award not as an individual accolade but as a testament to the resilience and tenacity of the entire ALS community. Our voices matter. Our actions matter. And together, we will continue to forge a path towards a future free from the scourge of ALS." Congratulations again, @nicolecimbura! 🎉 You truly embody Sandy’s request: “Please take my baton & run faster & farther. Get us to the winner's circle. It's entirely possible.” 🌞 #ALSAwarenessMonth #BetterTogether

MUST WATCH FOOTAGE: This is UCLA's Provost, Darnell Hunt, trying to negotiate with the UCLA Encampment Activists. They effectively lecture him and when he tries to briefly clarify something, they get mad at him, so he decides to leave. The Encampment Occupiers laugh at this before yelling "Shame." Some Occupiers break off and follow him as leaves. They record him and call him a coward.

"The most important element is determination. It's knowing that while the disease has only one direction to go, so do you. We do not give up, not today, not any day. You accept every moment for what it is and the victory of perseverance that it represents." -Sundeep 2020 #EndALS

This is the moment that we first found out about the amazing grant from Mackenzie Scott and her incredible foundation. I am so proud of the amazing IAA staff and community. As you will see, disbelief turns into happy tears. Today, I cannot stop smiling.

The only way through this is to go through this. On this side of ALS, getting myself and kiddos through this journey that is life now. Who decided on the word "journey" anyway? Journey should be a nice drive by the ocean on a sunny day. 1/4

300 million people battle a disease without an approved treatment. Even worse, many of these diseases could be treated with drugs sitting on the local pharmacy’s shelf. At @EveryCure we feel that now is the time to address this massive systemic issue. Advances in artificial intelligence have made it possible to unlock repurposed treatments that were previously thought unachievable. We are building the world’s most comprehensive drug repurposing database and using AI algorithms to score the potential for each of the 3,000 approved drugs to treat each of the 20,000 diseases. Let us know what disease you’d like us to find treatments for! #MedTwitter

There is no excuse for neurologists or PCPs not being aware that there is an ALS multidisciplinary clinic in their city. How can this happen?
