There's a fatal crack in the veneer of the world's multi-trillion dollar global warming crisis. The global sacrifice for net zero by 2050 carries an estimated price tag of $275 trillion (McKinsey, 2022). Yet, for that cost, we may achieve a marginal, if any, physical return—a reality the UN-led agenda refuses to acknowledge. The 40-year climate campaign ignores a fundamental principle of physics: the Law of Diminishing Returns. Rising CO₂ levels do not cause temperatures to increase at a linear rate. Because CO₂ molecules saturate at key wavelengths, adding more is like trying to catch rain with a sponge that is already soaked. To get the same warming effect we saw in the past, we must double and re-double concentrations. Think of painting a glass window to block out the sun: the first coat blocks the majority of the light. The second blocks a bit more, but by the tenth coat, you are painting a wall that is already black. The marginal change in temperature is now almost zero. The UN-led agenda has already triggered a massive transfer of wealth and dislocation of Western life. It has made once-robust economies like Germany energy-poor; no longer making steel or concrete and industrial jobs hollowed out. Energy poverty isn't a side effect—it is the direct result of ignoring this logarithmic curve. While the rhetoric treats every ton of CO₂ as a 'climate bomb' the physics shows we are already on the flat part of the curve. If the warming effect is diminishing, the economic cost of net zero is an exercise in futility. We are spending trillions to repaint a window that is already opaque.
