This morning, I joined @PremierFord and @MinisterJones and my fellow Durham MPPs at @LakeridgeHealth Oshawa to announce the new Whitby Hospital along with several other significant investments into the Region of Durham's healthcare. This is what it means to #GetItDone.

Ontario's world-class research ecosystem depends on strong partnerships and strategic investments in the infrastructure behind discovery. I met with the @InnovationCA to discuss how we can keep making groundbreaking discoveries in economy-driving sectors like AI, life sciences, critical minerals and advanced manufacturing. We're working hard to ensure Ontario's homegrown innovation continues to lead on the global stage!

Today, I introduced bold measures that will help #ProtectOntario communities and keep streets safe. If passed, the Protecting Ontario’s Streets and Communities Act, 2026 will:
✅ Protect transit riders by cracking down on illegal drug use on transit
✅ Improve protections for victims of human trafficking ✅ Strengthen oversight of the towing and private security industries
✅ Give law enforcement stronger tools to keep communities safe Learn more: news.ontario.ca/en/release/100… @douglasdowney @PrabSarkaria @stcrawford2 @zeeinmilton @ninatangri @MichaelParsa

This morning, we reconnected with Frank Blome, CEO of PowerCo, to receive a progress update on the construction of their $7 billion EV battery gigafactory in St. Thomas. This milestone project will position Ontario at the forefront of innovative battery production and strengthen our role in the future of the global automotive sector.

A big loss for the government this morning. There are few people in public life who lead with the grace, integrity, intelligence, and genuine kindness that Minister @C_Mulroney does. A strong woman, an exceptional role model, and someone who has always carried herself with dignity, resilience, and unwavering conviction, Caroline’s years of public service have left a meaningful impact on communities across Ontario and beyond. Her commitment to building a stronger province while remaining deeply devoted to her family and values is something I have always greatly admired and respected. On a personal note, it has been a privilege to know her not only as a respected leader, but as a friend. Thank you Caroline, for your service, your leadership, and the example you continue to set for so many. I know this is far from the end of your impact and I wish you continued success and happiness in this next chapter. Our province and country are better because of you and the Mulroney family, and it has been an honour working with you.

Ontario is lucky to have benefited from Caroline Mulroney’s calm and steady leadership in Cabinet, having served as attorney general, minister of transportation and most recently minister of francophone affairs and president of Treasury Board. Caroline leaves behind a record she can be immensely proud of: a historic funding agreement for the largest expansion of public transit in North America, disciplined fiscal policies that are helping to keep our economy competitive while investing in critical frontline services and a strong and thriving Francophone community across the province, to name only a few. Caroline is more than a colleague: she is a close personal friend. I will miss seeing her sitting across from me at the Cabinet table and in caucus meetings. Politics is in Caroline’s blood. The Ontario PC Party and our conservative movement will no doubt continue to benefit from her ideas and ideals. Here’s to an exciting next chapter for Caroline and her family.

Yesterday, I informed Premier Ford of my decision to resign from Cabinet and from my seat in the Ontario Legislature, effective June 5. To Premier Ford, to the people of York-Simcoe, to Ontario’s Francophone community, to the York-Simcoe PC riding association, to my Caucus and Cabinet colleagues, to my constituency and ministerial teams, to the Ontario Public Service and my family – thank you.

I joined the community at the Aylmer Legion this afternoon to celebrate the permanent home of “On Guard for Thee”, an incredible mural created by students at East Elgin Secondary School. A special congratulations to the students, teachers, and Royal Canadian Legion Branch 81 for turning a classroom project into something that will be proudly displayed for years to come. This is especially meaningful during the Legion’s 100th anniversary year. This is a great example of how art can bring communities together and leave a legacy for future generations. #aylmer #elginmiddlesexlondon #onguardforthee

Congratulations to @Shelley_AGH and @TheAGH on another incredible Gala, celebrating a “Roaring Hamilton” and the people, partnerships, and vision helping shape the future of our city. LiUNA is proud to be your friend, partner and returning sponsor year after year! A great evening surrounded by leaders from across Hamilton who continue to step up, give back, and invest in the culture, community, and institutions that make this city stronger. The impact of the arts extends far beyond the gallery walls, helping drive connection, conversation, creativity, and pride in our community. Hamilton proud!

Last night, on behalf of my colleague MPP Daisy Wai, I had the opportunity to recognize four incredible artists: Roxana, Azzy, Sanaz and Raheleh, and thank them for sharing their artistic work at the "Four Narratives featuring Thoughts of Homeland" art exhibition at the Mill Pond Gallery in Richmond Hill. The exhibition runs until May 24th at 5:00 pm, and I encourage everyone to go out and see it.

It was an honour to have Northumberland’s progress in building a more Age-Friendly Community recognized by my colleague and friend @RaymondChoPC. For many Ontario families, supporting aging loved ones is part of everyday life, and the Age-Friendly Community model helps make that easier by improving accessibility, safety, and support for seniors. From safer public spaces to stronger local supports, these improvements are helping seniors stay connected and age with dignity closer to home.

Building stronger communities in the North starts with skilled workers. Joined by Minister @GregRickford, we visited the future site of a new vet clinic in Kenora and discussed how projects like this begin with a strong local workforce. With Kenora’s new @SkilledTradesON exam centre, apprentices can get certified closer to home and take the next step toward building their communities.

This morning alongside Premier @FordNation, we welcomed a $306 million investment from @Tenaris to expand its operations in Sault Ste. Marie. In addition to creating 200 good-paying jobs, today’s announcement will position Ontario’s steel sector at the heart of new, nation-building projects and affirm our province as the jurisdiction of choice for large-scale, long-term investments. Heavy civil is booming across Ontario, and LiUNA members are hard at work building and connecting communities across the province. That includes the Bradford Bypass, which has officially broken ground, creating good union jobs, strengthening critical infrastructure, and helping keep families and communities moving across York Region and beyond. We look forward to continuing to work with Minister @PrabSarkaria and the @fordnation government to build Ontario’s ambitious infrastructure plan, moving critical projects from planning to progress and drive our economy forward!

Great joining sector leaders from across Ontario for a productive roundtable hosted by @Communitech to discuss how we can continue supporting innovation, investment, and growth across our province. Ontario’s homegrown businesses are helping drive our economy forward, create good-paying jobs, and strengthen communities right here at home. We’ll continue working alongside our partners to ensure Ontario remains the best place to grow, invest, and do business. 🛡️🍁

From clinical trials to newborn health screening, the groundbreaking research happening at the @CHEO Research Institute is changing lives for families across Ontario and beyond. 🏥🔬 I'd like to thank CHEO for the fascinating opportunity to witness first-hand how they are protecting children and families through cutting-edge care and earlier diagnosis. Since 2018, our government has invested $1M to critical research projects at CHEO, driving medical breakthroughs and protecting Ontario's position as a global leader in health innovation.
