Live: Our counsel argues for an injunction to keep sites open while the constitutionality of the Community Care and Recovery Act is under review. The key question in considering interim relief is whether preventing harm to SCS clients outweighs the presumed benefits of the Act.

We are in an EMERGENCY. 1 person dies every 2.5 hours in Ontario. Closing SCS will be deadly. People will be overdosing outside more and in public places, at home etc. We need people to get trained to save lives and help save the sites.

“I am scared about what will happen to me and friends when they take away the consumption site. I am losing too many friends.” These are the words of Jennifer, a client of the Kensington Overdose Prevention Site. Jennifer was a speaker at a press conference I attended this morning to draw attention to a public letter signed by 200 faith leaders urging Premier Ford to keep the consumption sites open.
