In an unfathomable inversion of reality, and through an endless stream of baseless lies, propagandist Nicholas Kristof turns the victim into the accused. Israel - whose citizens were the victims of the most horrific sexual crimes committed by Hamas on October 7, and whose hostages were later subjected to further sexual abuse - is portrayed as the guilty party. This publication is no coincidence. It is part of a false and well-orchestrated anti-Israel campaign aimed at placing Israel on the UN Secretary-General’s blacklist. This is a hard article to read, but I hope you'll do so. I've spent some time reporting on widespread rape and other sexual violence of Palestinian male and female prisoners by Israeli authorities, and the article is now published. The assault victims were warned not to give speak of what they endured -- they were sometimes told they would be killed or raped if they gave interviews -- but they found the courage to do so. One man described being raped three times in a single day in Israeli prison, the third time after he tried to protest. A young woman said the guards would come in at the beginning of each shift and strip her naked and abuse her. Another reported that she was shown photos of herself being raped and warned they would be released unless she cooperated with Israeli intelligence. Even three children who had been detained told me they had been sexually abused. Look, whatever our position on the Middle East, we should be able to agree on being anti-rape. Sexual assaults were horrific when Israeli women were targeted on Oct. 7, and they're equally horrific when Israeli authorities use them against Palestinians day after day after day. The documentary that the BBC refused to air - Gaza: Doctors Under Attack - won a Bafta last night. The documentary shows the targeting, detainment and torture of medics in Gaza by Israeli authorities. The decimation of Gaza’s healthcare system including the detention of healthcare workers is central to Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza. Amnesty awarded Gaza: Doctors Under Attack at the Amnesty Media Awards last week. The work of everyone involved in making this documentary and fighting for it to be broadcast shows the importance of journalists willing to speak truth to power. #Bafta #Baftas

Israel dropped bombs on a school run by nuns today in Nabatieh, South Lebanon. They obliterated it. Not a military site. A school run by religious sisters.

As I wrote in my own @TorontoStar op-ed on this issue, it's already illegal to openly use drugs on the TTC. What @fordnation is doing is giving transit constables the power to arrest and seize the belongings of people they *think* might have or use drugs. That's called profiling.

@P43215 every overdose is a traumatic event. so perhaps people are not dying at the after covid rates but they are experiencing hospitalizations, hypoxia to the brain, other injuries like compartment syndrome. but ok... one death is one too many btw

@ZoeDodd A few weeks ago Ford was crying about drug use in libraries, this week he's crying about the same thing on transit. His solution appears to be to make illegal drugs illegaler. Someone should ask him why he won't provide basements to use drug in like his brother did?

Sharp rise in overdoses and deaths in northern Ontario, drug alerts all over the province. Toronto saw a rise in overdoses and deaths at the end of April, beginning of May. One of those deaths was a friend who relapsed. Relapse shouldn't kill but it can. SCS still slated to close
