The latest issue of Welsh History Review is out now, featuring some great articles and reviews, including studies of the Russian Flu pandemic, the anti-Jewish Riots of 1911, and Gruffudd ap Llywelyn:

Very sad news. I was lucky to have been taught by him - a kind and encouraging teacher who knew how to get the best out of his students. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.

We are very saddened by the death of Prof Geraint H. Jenkins who taught in our Dept of Welsh History from 1968-93. A greatly respected Welsh historian and a prolific writer, he will also be remembered as a witty and entertaining lecturer. Our heartfelt condolences to his family.

This charter is our link with the Welsh Lordship of Afan, 200 years after the Norman invasion Glamorgan. Granted in 1308 by Lord of Afan Leysan ap Morgan, it is the only local example of a borough being created by a Welsh lord.

So pleased to see this article, which I co-wrote with two terrific colleagues, out in print. And it’s open access: Art as industrial heritage: deindustrialisation and public sculpture in Britain’s steel-making regions, 1976–2020 tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.10…

It's a tough day for the British steel industry with the confirmation that around 2,500 jobs are to be lost at the Port Talbot works in South Wales. It's just the latest chapter in a long story of decline at the site, according to historian Dr Bleddyn Penny👇

@DrDenisemary Ah yes, thanks Denise. I’m keen to read that one. It’s not in our library sadly, though I may try to get it via inter-lib loan

Just spent a lovely couple of hours speaking to some of the new students who will be coming to @SwanseaHistory in Sept. Well done to everyone who has a place. If you’re still considering your options why not give our clearing team a call. We’d love to hear from you!
