I respectfully disagree. The Olympian's statement suggests he represents only the "good" aspects of the US that match his moral values, not the country as a whole. As a national representative, wearing the flag implies standing for the entire nation. The president's response points this out fairly, without clear misrepresentation. Framing it as an "attack" uses loaded language that heightens tension rather than addressing the core idea.
