@AliceFromQueens Mostly geography. Lasher voters more Jewish, more likely to be from upper west side whereas Bores is UES/midtown. I think Bores AI critical stance will make him the under 45 y/o favorite. He also went on Ezra Klein/Odd Lots recently which can’t hurt in Manhattan lol

@lowercaine What;s the difference between likely Lasher voters and likely Bores voters?

@AliceFromQueens Bores running a really effective anti-AI tv ad rn and been seeing him in more in local and national media. I don’t think Schlossberg is even running much of a campaign afaik

@AliceFromQueens Bores and Lasher are the serious candidates but still low name ID at the moment. Schlossberg and Conway are social media creatures but showing up strong in polling. Old, rich, high edu. district so these voters will settle on Bores or Lasher.

@DriveTime99 @RWPopulism @Faj1791 Interesting parallels bc I think the NYC black political establishment support for Adams in 2021 meant they were scrambling in 25. I think the Biden catastrophe and the fact that his dead-enders were black establishment democrats will diminish their influence in 28

@lowercaine @RWPopulism @Faj1791 One of the interesting things about mamdani is his primary win saw him topple a (flawed) front runner who had support from the black establishment. If NYC is a sign of things to come nationally, you may be right

@DriveTime99 @RWPopulism @Faj1791 I suspect winning older black voters will be less of a determinant in who wins the nom relative to ‘16 and ‘20 but part of the reason I’m bullish on Ossoff is that a Warnock endorsement could be a major get if there’s an early SC primary

@RWPopulism @Faj1791 the 2028 primary won’t be decided by Gaza, it will be decided by whoever 1) can fundraise well enough for a national campaign and 2) not get crushed with black voters over 45. That’s pretty much how it’s been since Obama.

@lowercaine @ettingermentum Liberals support blackmailing countries. That's what sanctions are. The only reason they're not ended is due to fear of political opponents

Conversely the Epstein stuff has been highly effective, especially given the larger context of scandal insulation. People are more compelled by stories about how the country is fucked up than narratives about how everything is fine except for foreign influence.
ettingermentum@ettingermentum

The entire Russiagate electoral legacy is so unbelievably dogshit. Polling in 2018 had it literally dead last among all voter priorities and they still ended up impeaching him over it after running on not doing that.

@ClwnPrncCharlie Also considering that was a lot of boomers who read the NYT first exposure to Hasan, so it’s stupid on multiple fronts for a guy doing endorsements for left candidates

The basic problem with Malcolm Harris and Hasan about museums and stuff is just not-that-smart-disease and a willingness to say whatever, unfortunately. Jia Tolentino is an artist so she’s on a different register here

@ImNotOwned The GA house delegation is so damn old which is not ideal in a state where you want a deep bench + in the minority at state leg level so no obvious candidates there

@JackPosobiec Pope Leo needs to focus on faith and morals of Jesus Christ not world globalist agenda. Where was he during Covid lock down? Why wasn’t he (and bishops) standing up to the government then???

If the Pope is going to get political, he's going to get a political response. A lot of people were not around here for Pope Francis! Gosh

Justice Alito brings in a key point… You can’t establish a legal permanent domicile somewhere you are illegally present and subject to removal at any time.

@greggnunziata It was* beneath the dignity of a former president. I don’t think much explanation is needed for why the standard of dignity for presidents has changed.

@tysonbrody Idk I wouldn’t underrate the possibility that strait stays closed, TACO terms are insufficient to Trump/Iran, and he decides best way to get it open in short term is by going scorched earth

comparing protestantism and catholicism is funny, because generally speaking, most american catholics are pretty median. like you have your nuts, but most are generally normal.
