🚨 NEW STUDY ALERT: Children from Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Black African & other minority ethnic backgrounds in the UK are LESS likely to suffer unintentional injuries than white children, despite facing disproportionate disadvantage. 🧵1/4 rdcu.be/eD7c6

💡While cultural & behavioral differences exist between ethnic groups, these didn't statistically explain injury variation. We need more research on mechanisms behind minority ethnicity and first-generation migrant families' protective factors! 🧵4/4

🌍 KEY INSIGHT: The protective effect was mainly explained by maternal migration status in Pakistani and Bangladeshi families - children whose mothers were born outside the UK showed lower injury rates. What explains the protective effect of first-gen migrant parents? 🧵3/4
