CALLING ALL LIBERTARIANS! One of our biggest petitioning opportunities for ballot access is coming up soon! Our Governor candidate, Ken Krawchuk, will need 5,000 signatures to get on the ballot for November. A prime opportunity to collect is on Primary Day, May 19th. Anyone of any voter registration can sign our petitions and if we collect at the polls, we can guaranty they are registered voters. It is a low effort and easy way to ensure our place on the ballot. If you want to help get Libertarians on the ballot, email elections@lppa.org and we will send a copy of a petition for your area!

LP Butler County hosted a successful protest with the Butler GOP in support of a councilwoman unlawfully detained by police at the request of the council president in Harrisville. Well done to Morgen Mogus and the entire LP Butler affiliate for standing up to this injustice.
Butler Eagle@ButlerEagle

Protesters held signs with various messages, ranging from “no queens” to “I’m with her.” Occasional cars passing by honked and waved at the small gathering. “The subject of if there was a ‘no kings’ moment, it would be this,” Morgen Mogus said. buff.ly/jTHo1wy

Unlawfully detaining an elected official is not a partisan issue. It is a moral one. We are happy to work across party lines with @butlerparepubs and help give Harrisville residents a platform to let their voices be heard. Thank you to everyone who came out!

I spoke to many Pennsylvanians who regret their vote last election, and are planning on staying home this cycle. You don't need to stay home. You don't need to support the two parties that let you down. You can send a strong message by voting Libertarian!

Why do you think that the government schools don’t teach our children how Pennsylvania’s government works? A reading of Article I of the Pennsylvania Constitution gives a clear answer. Article I is also called the Declaration of Rights. It is similar to the federal Bill of Rights, only much, much more powerful in keeping an oppressive government at bay. Much of it was authored by William Penn, the founding father of Pennsylvania. For the most part, it’s written in simple terms so that the average person can understand it. There are 28 sections in Article I that deal with the basis of Pennsylvania government. But the most important one is Section 25, which reads: “To guard against transgressions of the high powers which we have delegated, we declare that everything in this Article is excepted out of the general powers of government and shall forever remain inviolate.” In other words, there are things that the government is forever forbidden from touching. Why do you suppose they never teach our children that, never tell us that?

No one should have to beg the government to exercise a constitutionally protected right anywhere in the country. Thank you @MikeKellyPA for cosponsoring HR 645, the National Constitutional Carry Act.

The Libertarian Party of Butler County calls for Harrisville Council President, April Anschutz, to resign IMMEDIATELY. Mary Ann Hughes has the right to speak out and carry out the duties of councilwoman. This is a horrible and shameless power grab by the Harrisville Council.
Jondavid “JD” Longo@JondavidRLongo

I am deeply disgusted by the shocking abuse of power exhibited by Harrisville Borough Council and its President, April Anschutz, at their recent public meeting. Ordering the forcible removal of duly elected Councilwoman Mary Ann Hughes, a 65 YEAR OLD WIDOW, business owner, resident, and taxpayer, for attempting to address corruption and harassment by Harrisville’s agents is reprehensible, authoritarian, and contrary to the principles of open and lawful government. Despite her elected post, calm demeanor, and right to speak, Mary Ann was shouted down, intimidated, interrupted, and physically assaulted. I unequivocally demand the immediate and unconditional resignation of Anschutz. Her flagrant overreach and disregard for the rule of law prove she is unfit to hold public office and must step down without delay. Furthermore, the actions of the officer of duty must be reviewed. To the cowardly members of Harrisville Council who stood idly by and allowed for this disgusting abuse to occur without challenge, I urge you to begin removal proceedings for Anschutz should she refuse to resign. And to examine your conscience if you believe its alright to treat an elderly, lifelong, female community servant in this way. I call upon the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to launch a formal ethics investigation into the seemingly concerted efforts by Harrisville Borough agents to install their own agent into Councilwoman Hughes’ duly elected office, along with the apparent conspiracy to sabotage Mary Ann’s First and Fourth Amendment rights. The citizens of Harrisville, and Pennsylvania, deserve accountability and transparent governance, free from such tyrannical tactics.

The war in Iran is a PA issue. Pennsylvanians who can't afford their own homes are paying to blow up homes of Iranians. We can put an end to this by passing #DefendTheGuard. Presidents would think twice about engaging in reckless war if they couldn't rely on the Guard.

🚨 GUN CONTROL KILLS. PERIOD. Criminals don’t obey laws — they break them. But every new gun control scheme only disarms law-abiding Pennsylvanians while predators stay armed. Florida proved it: After they legalized concealed carry, handgun homicides dropped 41% — while the rest of the nation’s rose 24%. An armed society is a safer society. School shootings? Pearl, MS: Armed vice principal stopped the killer cold. Edinboro, PA: Local merchant with a shotgun held the shooter at bay for 11 minutes. Littleton, CO: No one armed to stop them. 13 dead. The facts are brutal and clear: Gun control kills. Our own Pennsylvania Constitution is crystal clear: “The right of the Citizen to bear arms for the defense of themselves and the State shall not be questioned.” Handguns are a girl’s best friend. Responsible citizens with guns save lives every single day. As your next Governor, I’m ending the failed gun-control experiment and restoring real safety through freedom. If you’re tired of politicians treating you like a criminal while real criminals roam free — share this, follow me, and vote Libertarian.
