Take into account that A. roughly 30% of 18-25 year olds are in some form of higher education, thus greatly reducing their availability. Also, younger age groups are more likely to be career ambitious thus not as desirable as a hiree.

@lsmith7901 @BladeoftheS That's still more jobs available than the 18-25 unemployed population. So there are jobs, it's just whether they are qualified or want to do them. Being inflexible & refusing to get a crap job is what imo is stopping ppl from working.

Unemployment is at 16.1% for 18-25's in the UK.
More than 400,000 of them are actively looking for work.
By the end of the year it is expected to be more than 500,000.
There are no jobs for non-disabled people, there definately aren't any for disabled people.

My daughter couldn't get a job for 2 years, so I got involved in the next application, in availability, I changed to "anytime" from her numerous restrictions and she got the job.

@ugly_fishy @BladeoftheS Of those 750k job “vacancies”, how many of those are ghost jobs? Reports have it at roughly 30%, therefore there may only be 525,000. Combine that with the fact there is soon to be 500,000 unemployed 18-25 year olds, and the fact more people than ever are working past retirement.

@BladeoftheS There's 750k job vacancies in the UK. So that can mean 2 things, the unemployed are not qualified or they don't want to work them. If there are no unskilled jobs available and ppl genuinely want to work, then we need to look at why.

It’s psychologically horrible to have such a debt. But it doesn’t matter. She’ll never pay off her loan. She’ll pay extra 9% income tax above Plan 2 threshold, £29,385 from April, which will mean less disposable income, but after 30 years, however massive, debt will disappear.

I was fortunate enough to pay the earlier version of fees, I paid back about £18,000 over 10 years and cleared by the time I was 32. Then everything changed.
Students who were on Plan 2, who came after my cohort have been absolutely scammed, there’s no other words for it

I graduated medical school in 2023, taking out a total loan of £77,549. As Oli states, interest is charged from the beginning, which is an added sting for longer courses like Medicine. Despite working as a doctor for 3 years, making regular repayments, my loan continues to grow.
