This Redhead was one of eight (the all-time record number for Central Park) that appeared late on January 20 on the Reservoir and were gone by the next day. The extremely cold weather has been freezing water bodies and pushing waterfowl south in search of open water.

Dear @NYCMayor, @NYCParks and @CentralParkNYC, please consider discontinuing the use of rodenticides in Central Park and other city parks, even outside of raptor breeding season. We can make our parks safer for this beautiful owl and other birds of prey by investing in wildlife-friendly alternatives to rodenticides.

1/25/26 Wow! Our brave Turkey Princess Astoria spent the whole day along State street near the #1 train. At 4pm she decided to start walking back to the Park. Finally at 5:13pm, Astoria flew up to her tree east of the Carousel. Good Night Astoria . Luv Yah ! #birdcpp ❤️🦃💤❄️❄️
