@haider1 yes its total crap. imagine we embody our best Ai model in our best robot body (combining the two systems is nowhere near prime time but ignore that) if say to your new 'employee': go find a certain item from another room, it can't. why? because the system has zero intelligence.

@elonmusk Not good news. Starlink is a military network controlled by Epstein Coalition. Now they can send their industriallly mass-produced drones to hit endless hallucinatory target lists collated by American "AI" (likely your Grok helps too) to hit schools & hospitals in new areas 👎👎

@apples_jimmy The idea must be its cheaply gained publicity. They're hoping lots of curious folks sign up to see what the fuss is about. Absolute charletons theatrically pretending their pattern matching babblers might be alive. The church should simply kick them out. Its a total disgrace 😔

@_EarnieBanks Fair point. Art is nearly undefined. Can be almost anything imo 🤷 Pre-AI example: Collage. cut magazine clippings ✂️ glue into a painting you did. in one view, could say finished work is all yours, OR could say you 'stole' the magazine clippings. is either opinion 'correct'? 🤷

@lu_blacktron And that isn’t even fair. Bc art is a very, especially human thing. Yes you can mix real art w AI assisting you. But the part that is AI isn’t art. And your entire piece is not really a reflection of you. It’s a modification you made to an average of data from other ppls emotions

@_EarnieBanks for this example me & my friends never took nintendo games that seriously 😆 it was all great fun & game genie came out we all played with that too. I used to type in my own random codes to see what happens 😂 usually glitch, crash, or does nothing. if having fun, no harm done

@lu_blacktron For the OG Nintendo, kids were able to buy a cheat cartridge called Game Genie. It made the game so easy anyone can beat it without much effort. Even though the human still played, do you respect them as a player. Do you label them the same as ppl actually good w/o cheating?

@aionfork @mcmilleeee @noisyb0y1 cool thing is you can work with CERN data completely offline. Its all local, you never need ping their servers or anything 😄 so no risk they'll start messing with you or taunting you if you play with it 😂

@lu_blacktron @mcmilleeee @noisyb0y1 It’s difficult to balance these avant-garde simulations. They don’t have a strong basis for equilibrium, so you can’t usually leverage it. There are a lot of ways in which equilibrium could break down. It happens in econophysics So that’s typically necessary for the aesthetics.

AN OXFORD STUDENT IS RUNNING A PARTICLE SIMULATION WITH REAL PEOPLE'S NAMES AND CLAIMS CERN IS TAUNTING HIM THROUGH THE CODE Thousands of particles on a black screen - each one labeled with a real person's name - moving according to the laws of physics in real time and he is completely convinced this is not a simulation but a personal message from CERN directed at him specifically. Particle simulation with collision detection, velocity vectors and brownian motion - technically flawless code that tracks every particle individually and renders trajectories at 60 fps. CERN operates a 17km collider that accelerates protons to 99.9999991% the speed of light and generates a petabyte of data every single day - and apparently found the time to encode Oxford student names into a simulation. The code is real. The physics is correct. The conclusions are a separate conversation.

@aionfork @mcmilleeee @noisyb0y1 econophysics sounds neat but is outside of my areas of specialty 😄 bulk of data you'd need won't come from CERN... far outside their domain also. CERN gives you data like: when x MeV of protons hit a block of lead, it results in y MeV deposited.

@josiezayner Its a realm of esoteric abstract knowledge with very thin real world application. If all Erdos problems were solved today it would not be a massive leap forward in technology. The wins would be modest: small improvements to network optimisations, cryptography & materials science

@aionfork @mcmilleeee @noisyb0y1 You can add magnetic fields and electrical fields but if you want more exotic stuff you'd need do some heavylifting to interlace GEANT4 data with data from other scientific simulators. Theory stuff like tachyons can't be simulated this way as all data comes from real experiments.

@aionfork @mcmilleeee @noisyb0y1 I use GEANT4 as my toolkit's core dependency. Standard for particle physics. Data is from CERN. Its a Monte Carlo Model: a comprehensive, high-fidelity particle transport simulation. No weird stuff like taunting, and folk's names aren't in it. Just particle science, thats it 😄

@aionfork @mcmilleeee @noisyb0y1 CERN isn't secretive. Without coding you can install the base tools my work sits on top of & play with it yourself. Its all open source & a big community of folks work with it. Look up GEANT4 to get started. Without a huge amount of effort you can inspect & see for yourself 🤗

@thoughts17181 My view is its more like: 2 + x = y You say you're certain y = 4. Yet it can't be proven. We don't know what x equals. I don't like beliefs but prefer rationality. This is agnosticism, not atheism. A no is as irrational as a yes. I don't know & I am content with that 🤗

@mathandcobb ...or wait i misunderstood you! 😂 I'm not a mathematician but a programmer looking at this new proof & thinking of potential applications. Yet its only relevant when theres such huge number of points (more than observable universe) so practical application is niche indeed! 😄

Take for example the new bounds for the unit distance problem. The new constructions beat older estimates only at 10^2000000 points or so. This has no practical application of any sort and the only interest in this proof is for the human understanding of the proof itself.

The Riemann Hypothesis, the Goldbach conjecture, the Twin Prime conjecture... They have all been extensively verified numerically. So for all practical purposes, these are "true" statements. If needed for an actual practical use, they could easily be verified even farther. The mathematical truth of these statements would only be "useful" to mathematicians that seek the truth and those who seek to understand *why* these statements are true. If an AI agent proved these statements but there were no mathematicians to understand and digest the proofs, what would be the point of such a proof? Even in the most optimistic of cases, where a super human mathematician agent exists that could prove or disprove (or declare undecideable) every statement, either there are human mathematicians that are there to understand the proof to explain it to other humans... Or there is simply no point for such a super human agent to exist in the first place.

@mathandcobb Wasn't aware the point gain is so minor! I wonder if even a tiny gain may help in certain niche fields such as material design. A minor compaction of a lattice could lead to an energy breakthrough perhaps? 🤷 yet without humans to understand & apply a proof its a useless trivia
