@_MG_ @wholemars Have you heard any routers that have been released that have backdoors in them? No that doesn’t exist. What does exist is severe vulnerabilities that manufacturers aren’t updating and providing support for. This is the most asinine ban ever honestly

@vxunderground The better way should have been CISA certifying routers and requiring a update pledge for a certain amount of years with pulling FCC certification for breaking said pledge

Yesterday the United States government banned all non-US produced computer networking equipment from the United States over security concerns. Network stuff currently in use can stay, however moving forward they must be produced in the United States or be given special approval ... or stop selling in the United States.

This is a great demo. The know-it-all contrarian replies make me cringe. Here’s a quick explainer what’s going on AND why it’s much worse than it appears. Copper Clad Aluminum (CCA) cables are copper cables with aluminum cores. They exist purely for the ~25% cost reduction. They almost always have cost-cutting insulation. Let’s touch on both topics, then combine into a unified nightmare :) CCA vs solid copper: CCA has lots of negatives. The primary in this context is that it has ~60% more electrical resistance. This degrades high speed signals(2.5G/5G/10G), especially as you get near the limits of length. It also significantly increases how much the cable heat up. Let’s say you are doing PoE++ at 100W, across 100 meters, on a tiny 24 bundle pair. The CCA will produce ~150W of additional heat. Thats a small space heater! But it’s not evenly spread across the cable because… CCA is also brittle, so any partial hairline cracks will become concentrated hot spots. CCA also doesn’t “bite” well when terminating, which creates another opportunity for hot spots. Worse: this gets worse over time due to aluminum oxidation. And then we get to the insulation. Flame retardant and stiffeners cost money, so they are left out. That means you have insulation that gets very soft under much lower temperatures on a metal that gets much warmer. That the metal starts to squeeze together which will mess with the data signal, or worst case, allowing the start of a short (another hot spot). Keep in mind, these cables are often run in bundles (compounding the heat) and through hot locations like attics. And if the insulation ever catches fire, it does NOT self extinguish. Yes, the cable itself could ignite, but ANYTHING starts a fire, you effectively have a fuse inside your walls now. That’s exactly what @TracketPacer is showing in this video. Lots of commercial buildings have “fire walls” that stop the spread of fire between sections of the building. One of the few things allowed to pass through these fire walls is… data cables! So to save 25% on your cabling, you are accepting a big degradation in data performance which will often lead to lots of debugging. It drops the voltage for PoE equipment… more debugging! Anytime the bundles are disturbed in any way… good chance of more debugging! And then you have the fire safety hazard and code violations that can leave you holding the bag for the consequences instead of the insurance. STOP BUYING CHEAP CABLES!

So I decided to factory reset/erase my beloved 12” MacBook (early 2015) just to get a clean install of the last version of macOS 11.7.11 Big Sur that it supports Big mistake. Apps that used to run (like Final Cut Pro) can’t even be redownloaded from the App Store anymore because Apple requires macOS 15 or later. That’s right: Software that I paid $300 for back in 2020 (see second image with date of purchase) that ran on this little machine (yes, I edited 4K iPhone footage on it during major events like CES, MWC, and IFA back in the day) just straight up doesn’t install anymore. Apple doesn’t even let me install the last compatible version anymore. There’s nothing wrong with my 12” MacBook. It should run all the software that used to work on it. Kinda fucked up and very anti-consumer

@JesskaPizzle real ID would not be a acceptable form of ID as it has never been used to prove citizenship. every state charges for a birth certificate anywhere from 10-30 dollars we are not talking about if its responsible or not. statistically this would bar 9%-11% of voters in the US.

I paid for expedited shipping so I can get it next day. But either way, most states don't charge at all and I can vote with my real ID (which you need to fly without issues). I am already registered to vote. The bill doesn't affect me. For anyone wanting to register, they are gonna need their documents. But also, you SHOULD already have them. It's irresponsible not to. Even if you don't vote, you SHOULD have them. You can't even get a job without a birth certificate in many cases and in all you need either that or a SSN card.

I don't like this bill because it doesn't allow mail in. HOWEVER, adult Americans SHOULD know where important documents are. I don't have a passport but I have everything from divorce decree to birth certificates. I don't need a passport. Anyone who DOESN'T have a birth certificate and marriage certificate can get them in person or request a copy online. From whatever state you were born/married. My husband's birth certificate cost me $25 and they mailed it to CA from VA. Easy online process and verification. Don't be lazy. Get your documents today!

The SAVE Act doesn’t accept driver’s licenses. 50% of Americans don’t have passports.

@ClemensZauner @hk_net @vxunderground It’s probably cloud to cloud something like a AWS a petabyte is just a normal day to them. Although I’d probably be more worried about the payment there so maybe Russia so like yandex who can also store a petabyte for a very pretty penny. This group is more social engineering tho

@hk_net @vxunderground Well, Telus already admitted that they were p0wned for multiple months. It should have been noticed just from the traffic-volume. I mean, s-flow is a thing. I do however have questions about the intruders. Not anyone has a petabytes of storage to spare just for copying stuff.

A really really big company was confirmed to have been compromised. They primarily handle work-force outsourcing and call-center stuff. The amount of data this company possessed was SICKENING and over ONE PETABYTE of data was stolen. I'll do a write-up on it later. It'll take me 45 minutes to discuss everything that was stolen and how many things it impacts. Dawg, we have GOT TO STOP giving random companies user data.

Does your child check the weather? Well think again, because pedophiles also check the weather. If your child checks the weather they may be a victim of sexual exploitation. Yesterday @troyhunt shared this photo online. You have to do age verification to check the weather.

Simple age check for Linux: Just have the shell ask the user to check the host IP on first boot. If they type ifconfig they are old enough, if they type ip addr they deserve to be restricted from their computer 😇

@NoMoMediaLies @Steve__Chappell does well it’s like ~98% from the last testing I’ve seen online a few years ago. Resource use is fairly minimal compared to the “big” bloated ones. You have to remember a lot of it runs on top of Microsoft defender which has more low level access. I sell it but only bc its good

⚠️The Conduent Data Breach Disaster Continues... Now, at least 25 Million People had their Personal Data Breached, Yet most don't even know they have been compromised, including stolen data that goes far beyond contact details. This includes Full legal names, postal addresses, and dates of birth, Social Security numbers and other government identifiers, Medical information, health insurance details, and related claims data. Please, Lock down your accounts with password changes, MFA, and as always, Freeze your credit files. "The Conduent breach has quietly grown into one of the biggest third‑party data incidents in US history, and the real story now is how many different programs and employers are swept up in it, even for people who have never heard of Conduent." according to this below advisory from Malwarebytes... malwarebytes.com/blog/news/2026…?

Microsoft purges Windows 11 printer drivers, putting millions of devices on borrowed time Few third-party drivers are now published via Windows Update for Windows 11 and later versions. Existing installed drivers continue to function for now, but fresh setups for older printers relying on these may fail. Users with affected legacy printers should download drivers directly from manufacturers or consider upgrading hardware.
