Lots of talk on Wales' industrial past as Farage opens up talk of a return to mining in Wales. Coal tips left over from the industrial past still pose a threat to communities today in Wales, with some living beneath them living in fear of another Aberfan. Highlighting this VT from @AliFortescue and I this year where the Welsh Government could not guarantee lives won't be lost' because of a coal tip disaster youtube.com/watch?v=mmF6l3…

Treasury Minister Tulip Siddiq was today cleared of breaking the ministerial code. So she resigned. If you’re thinking…hang on…that’s not how these things usually go… well, you’d be right. But in this extraordinary story involving everything from Bangladesh’s deposed prime minister… to a string of properties across north London…things are not quite what they seem. We’ll try to fully explain Tulip Siddiq’s connections to her aunt and her ousted political party in Bangladesh on the programme tonight. But the key to understanding the conundrum of why she was cleared and then resigned is to look at the letter from Sir Laurie Magnus, the Prime Minister’s Advisor on Standards. Yes, he cleared her of breaching the ministerial code. But just listen to the conclusion: “Given the nature of Ms Siddiq’s ministerial responsibilities, it is regrettable that she was not more alert to the potential reputational risks - both to her and the Government - arising from her close family’s association with Bangladesh. I would not advise that this shortcoming should be taken as a breach of the Ministerial Code, but you will want to consider her ongoing responsibilities in the light of this.” Not a technical breach of the code… but I think we all know what Sir Laurie is getting at. Finally. Tulip Siddiq is a key ally of Keir Starmer. They’ve got neighbouring constituencies. They go way back. There have been resignations and sackings before… but that helps explain why this one feels personal.

Safeguarding Minister Jess Phillips has told Sky News that "nothing is off the table" and a national grooming inquiry could happen, if requested by victims. She spoke to @BethRigby - you can hear the full interview on an #ElectoralDysfunction special from tomorrow.
