@AlisonDoig Yes, me too Alison! Ours works reliably, quietly and produces all the warmth and hot water we need. It's cut our KwHs used in half, and combined with solar panels, we've cut the KwHs imported to our home by 76%. Carbon footprint down even more.

Heat pumps work! I know, I have one and I love it. They should replace gas boilers everywhere. (side note hydrogen for home heating is a myth put about by the gas industry, direct electrification is much more efficient and cheaper)

@Dani_Barrington Hi Dani. You're so right. When I'm doing surveys, for 'who is the HH head', have 'male', 'female', 'shared' (which could also cater for same-sex couples or e.g. older Mum and daughter sharing). Produced much more interesting results! So frustrating this isn't common.

I CAN NOT deal with the assumption in development that if a man and a woman are present in a house, the man is the 'head'. Why do we assume it is only one person? Why do we assume that it is the man? Why is this ok in LMICs when we would never make this assumption in HICs?

The exercise took me an hour. At the end of the one hour, and after managing to collect about 700 plastic bottles, I was only able to earn ksh100. Ultimate, I would have earned about ksh170 but the plastics were wet and dirty. Too much work, for so little!

Often, I have been asked why people do not collect and make money from the plastic in the river, I tell them it is a hard & expensive task to do . Yesterday, I challenged myself- got into the water for one hour to see how much of the recyclable plastic waste I’d be able to gather

Yes!! Our heatpump fitted in November has helped reduce our household energy consumption by 65-70% compared with our (fairly modern) has boiler. Cost per month about the same as last year so far (despite rising prices)
