So I made cherry tarts for Philip and they came out amazing. I want to prepare more and freeze them before being baked. How do I store them? Freezer bags?

@syruproxy @philthatremains … He won my heart as he fixed my department’s password debacle. (Thanks again, IT guys!) Sitting on a milkcrate in the network closet, laptop on his knees, he made his entry, then needed us to type our old password. And then swiveled away, so as NOT to observe what they entered.

@syruproxy @philthatremains He was hanging out underneath my desk, at work. (To be fair, I should explain he was fixing the network connections that flummoxed the official IT guys.)

@syruproxy @momranger2010 Check again. Parchment paper doesn’t usually smoke much. If it’s wax paper, which looks the same, that’s your problem. Wax paper is not for the oven. Good for you, making tarts for your guy! Keep going!

In America a woman named Miss Patricia handed me a small plastic card and told me I could now take any book in the building home, for free, and simply bring it back. I did not move. I waited for the rest of the sentence. The catch. The fee. The rank I had not yet earned. In my country, knowledge is a mountain you climb, with a master at every switchback deciding whether you may continue. There was no rest of the sentence. The card was the whole sentence. "Any book?" I asked. "Any book, hon." "And I keep it?" "For three weeks. Then you bring it back for the next person." For the next person. I nearly sat down on the floor. A nation had built a palace, filled it with every thought its people ever had the courage to write down, and then decided the door would be free. Not free for the rich. Not free for the worthy. Free for a tired foreigner with an accent and a plastic card he did not have to bleed for. I took out a book about your Civil War. Miss Patricia stamped it. That stamp was the softest violence I have ever witnessed. A whole empire of trust, enforced by a rubber stamp and the honor of strangers. Then she said the words that undid me. "If you like it, there's a whole shelf more. Take your time." Take your time. In my country we do not tell a man to take his time. Time is the one thing we are always running out of, always apologizing for. I read the book in two nights. I could have kept it. No guard would have stopped me. No wall. Only Miss Patricia, trusting me from across a whole town, the way you trust a man because trusting him is how he becomes trustworthy. I brought it back one day early. I may have run part of the way. I have since read forty books that were never mine to keep, and every one of them was mine completely while I held it. America, you left the door of the entire human mind unlocked, and you put a woman named Patricia there, not to guard it, but to wave people in. Who taught you to trust a stranger with everything you know? I would like to learn it before I go home.

@philthatremains Dude, these people took aim at crippling nuclear power plant in New England 55 years ago. Endless protests, lawsuits, obstructions against an offshore facility. Delays and costs actually bankrupted a public utility. No common sense and no accountability whatsoever.

@elonmusk Please, please give your gigafactory employees, in Northern Nevada, a tunnel. The only Reno/Sparks-to-Industrial Park route is over-stressed. There are crashes and shutdowns multiple times each week.

Trump: "They (Iran) gave us a present, and the present arrived today. It was a very big present worth a tremendous amount of money." "It was a very significant prize", Trump says, adding that it was related to oil and gas.

@RepOgles Those founders were willing to be hung as traitors to their former homeland in order to create and then participate in their new one. That’s assimilation.

It’s time for a major immigration paradigm shift. Our founders were prepared to drop the British flag to become Americans. Newcomers must be prepared to drop their flags and do the same. The ASSIMILATION Act will change everything. Stay Tuned.

@darlingdottor22 @Protestia @howertonjosh “allowing”? Of course! If anyone is not “allowed” it’s not church. Any seeker, anytime, absolutely. Teaching, leading, of course not. People attending, becoming aware of and correcting their sin - what are you criticizing?

More than 50 unmarried, cohabiting couples got married in a joint ceremony at Lakepointe church last week, a 30,000- member multisite church led by @howertonjosh in Rockwell, TX. Two weeks prior, at the end of a sermon, he issued a challenge to unmarried couples in the congregation, encouraging them to act on the Lord's call: "You're living with somebody that's not your spouse. You're sleeping with somebody that's not your spouse. Or you've actually already started a family and had kids with somebody that's not your spouse. And you right now are coming under the loving conviction of the Holy Spirit that you need to honor God, bend your knee to Jesus, put a ring on it, and enter into a covenant with a person that you're already acting like you're in a covenant."

@Rothmus It depends on how much it is worth to you to be the star of the show. Not to be paid to star in the show, but to foot the bill yourself. Kind of like vanity publishing.
