We at @RoyalStatSoc frequently call out governments for being naughty with data. But today I'd like to talk about a different sector... charities. (1)

Been great to attend the @infobeautiful workshop today, I have especially valued the approach of starting from concept, goal, then metrics. Not the elephant trap of starting from metrics we know exist #iibwab

I'd like a text editor where I can have 3 different colours (or similar identifier) depending on whether I'm making notes before/during/after a meeting. Highlighting, commenting, or splitting into different sections feels suboptimal. Help wanted :)

I'm fed up of seeing Muslim characters on screen either negative or non existent. The industry must change. Our new study proves what many of us always felt about #MuslimsInFilm. The cost is measured in hate & lost lives. Full speech here: youtu.be/Ssuhvv0l3bk

@jilldlevine Nice plot! :) as to why missing two boxes, in line 104 of github.com/jlevine23/casc… the fn "rep" floors the values for the second argument. Could resolve by rounding the var column of animaldf, or go more precise with a bigger waffle-grid.

@lukefshaw If you always want the previous month when run you don't even need Param just set the month in the Rmd from sys.date

Ok #RStats: parameterised RMarkdown reports (eg monthly automated) - how best to do? Recommendations welcome. Will probably output to Word with manual comments added in by a non-Rstats-user

@ShinyBlackShoe Yeah fair point. I guess i want to know how to set it up so the .RMD file doesn't need changing - do I have a separate config file and reference? How can I get the title to have the month name? Should I use glue or some other packages? Sorry still not a well-defined Q

@lukefshaw What is the actual question? How to make the monthly happen? (? Platform: *nix based -> cron job) How to do the commentary? (`r if_else(this_a > previous_a, "The a has increased this month", "The a is no better this month")` ) also {glue}
