Wonder when there will be something meaningful to offer carers? for their every days? when will it be with us instead of others presuming what we need ( ie choice of yrly haircut, exercise and smell a plant?) May be start by listening to us as equals ?

Really hoping the support that comes back is nto the offer of a break to have a haircut ( thats usually on the list when they pop round to assess - or paints for MH ( im an artist its like offering an accountant a spreadsheet as a treat here go fill it in with some figures) 🧵

What I wish I knew before my child turned 18. No one told me that everything could change overnight. No one explained the Court of Protection. No one prepared me for capacity assessments. No one warned me that decisions about my loved one’s life could be taken out of my hands.

2 staying in situ, nowhere for a second camp bed except the en-suite 🙈 … made for an interesting night’s sleep. Such a shame that once children with learning disabilities become adults, parent accommodation often disappears, even though the need for support absolutely doesn’t

The DWP has literally spent over £3.5 BILLION and managed to get a whopping 3% of disabled people into work. Whilst simultaneously CUTTING Access to Work support which has resulted in far more than those 3% actually losing their jobs. So this is complete bollocks and gaslighting
